ATMS AND CASH IN TAIWAN

There are few ATMs in the airport that they don’t charge commission. There are a couple of places to exchange money in the airport. Outside the airport it can be difficult to exchange money in Taiwan. You will be able to do it only in banks.

We have to say that for us was the best way to travel around Taiwan in Taipei, Taichung and Koahisung was using the Easycard. You just need to charge credit and you can use in MRT, buses from Taoyuan airport to Taipei Main Station. Plus you can use for buying in 7 Eleven and convenience stores in the country. Taoyuan Airport to Taipei

Taoyuan International Airport has 2 terminals which are connected by Skytrain service and soon will be 3 terminals. The MRT shuttle is free between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

There are different ways to get from Taoyuan airport to Taipei Main Station and we will tell you all of them with details below.

Taoyuan Airport to Taipei Main Station by MRT

If you want to get from Taoyuan airport to Taipei Main station one of the easiest ways will be by MRT. For us traveling around Taiwan was always easy using MRT and most of the times is the most convenient. Once you get your luggage to get to the MRT will take you 10 minutes walking from the arrivals.

MRT from Taipei airport to city will take you around 35-40 minutes. It depends which place you are going Taipei airport to city MRT fare is around 160 TWD. Take note that the MRT opens at 6 am until 11 35 pm. So if you are getting to the airport around that time will have no problem with the schedule.

Taoyuan Airport to Taipei Main Station by Bus

Kuo-Kuang Bus 1819 (24 Hours available)

If you want to get from Taipei Airport to Taipei Main Station by bus will be the cheapest option. If you are on a budget and you are going to Taipei Main Station will be a great choice. There bus 1819 is available 24 hours going from Taouyan airport to Taipei Main Station.

The bus tickets costs 140 TWD and you will find the bus stop right there in the airport. It will take around one hour to reach Taipei Main Station depending on the traffic since there are 40 kilometers distance.

You can buy the bus ticket in the counter, you can buy inside the bus and you can even pay with the Easycard. Remember that everytime you use the Easycard in Taipei you will save 15-20% of the ticket.

Taoyuan Airport to Ximeng by bus

West Bus 1961 is the cheapest way to get from Taoyuan Airport to Taipei costs only 100 TWD. West Bus 1961 is going from Taoyuan airport to Ximending which is one of most popular areas for accommodation in Taipei. West Bus 1961 schedule is from 6 am until 1 am.

Apart from these buses going from Taipei airport to city center.

Bus 1843 is going from Taoyuan airport to Nangang Exhibition Center and
East Bus 1960 going to Xinyi District around 101 Taipei. The buses 5201, 5202 and 5203 are heading to the city center from the airport. Prices of these buses are similar between 125-140 TWD and running from 6 am until 1 am.

Taipei Airport to city by High Speed Train THSR

If you want to get from Taipei airport to Taichung by High Speed Train THSR. You will have to get Ubus No. 705 to THSR Taoyuan Station it will take 25 minutes and it will cost 30 TWD.

If you prefer to take the MRT from Taoyuan to airport to Taoyuan THSR it will take 10 minutes and it will cost 35 TWD.

From Taoyuan THSR to Taipei THSR travel time will take 20 minutes and the fare is 180 TWD. This option you will have to commute and I only consider a great choice if you are staying neat THSR Station. If not will be better the other options mentioned above like bus and MRT.

Taoyuan Airport to Taipei by Taxi

If you want to get from Taoyuan airport to Taipei by taxi will be the most comfortable way. There are taxis available 24 hours apart from the schedule can be great if you are traveling with a few people or with so much luggage.

Taoyuan airport to Taipei taxi fare is around 1000-1200 TWD. Apart from this price you have to add the highway toll fees to the fare. As always in the airport just make sure you ask for the price or they turn on the taximeter to avoid scams.

Taipei airport to Taipei by Private transfer

If you prefer the comfort of getting from Taoyuan airport to Taipei by private transfer. This option can be the best if you are traveling with kids a group or you just had a long flight and you want to avoid the hassle in your first day in Taipei. Prices can be similar little bit less than a taxi.

BEST TIME TO VISIT TAIPEI

Taipei is located in North Taiwan so the weather is really nice it can be cold in January and February. In Taipei and the weather it’s not so hot like Tainan and Kaohsiung. The best time to visit Taipei is from November to April when the weather is dry and not so hot the temperature. November to April: The weather is dry and temperature is not so hot.

The coldest months are January and February. May to October: The weather is so hot and it’s rainy season. The typhoon season is starting from July to September when is the most rainy season in Taiwan.

You can spend $4-5 USD per person trying different choices like tofu, dumplings, oyster omelette and tasty soups. Milk tea si the most popular in Taiwan and it costs $2 USD. For decent meals expect to pay $7-10 USD per person in a restaurant. Apart from Milk Tea smelly tofu is a popular meal to try in Taiwan.
