We did this option with My Taiwan Tour and it was so much fun. We rode a van doing stops visiting waterfalls and the largest chimney in the world. Beautiful landscapes with a perfect tour guide giving you explanations around the area. It took around two hours to reach Jiufen Old Street. But the way was really nice and we spent enough time for taking pictures and watching around.
Once in Jiufen we walked around and we had lunch. There are many places to eat and to buy souvenirs. It’s so affordable and beautiful for pictures. It can be so crowded. We stayed around two hours eating street food and lunch! Since we still had to visit our last destination Pingxi.
After walking around Jiufen we visited Pingxi to learn how to make a lantern and fly them. It was a cool experience and you can see a few pictures below. People are flying the lanterns in Pingxi Old Street and you have to stop when the train is coming. The town is so beautiful and we really loved the vibe there.
