How to get from Taoyuan Airport to Taichung by Bus
If you want to get from Taoyuan airport to Taichung by bus will be the cheapest option. There are buses running every 30 minutes and prices are starting from 245-300 TWD which is $8-10 USD.
Taoyuan Airport to Taichung by bus is 2 hours and 10 minutes. The bus stop in Terminal 1 is on the basement first floor and the bus stop in Terminal 2 is on the first floor.
Kuo-Kuang Motor Transport No. 1860
Kuo-Kuang Motor Transport No. 1860 leaves every 60-120 minutes from the airport. It’s the cheapest bus company and prices are starting 245 TWD. Buses starts at 6 am until 1 10 am.
You board the bus at Terminal 1 from Boarding No.3 and Terminal 2 from Boarding No.2
UBus No. 1623
UBus No. 1623 leaves every 30-60 minutes. Prices are 280 TWD. The first bus departure is at 6 am until midnight.
You board the bus at Terminal 1 from Boarding No.13 and Terminal from Boarding No.4
Free Go Bus No. 5503
Free Go Bus No. 5503 leaves every 30-40 minutes. Prices are 300 TWD. The first bus departure is at 6 am until 12 40 am.
By Train From Taoyuan Airport to THSR Taichung
If you want to get from Taipei Airport to Taichung by High-Speed Train THSR. You will have to get Ubus No. 705 to THSR Taoyuan Station it will take 25 minutes and it will cost 30 TWD.
If you prefer to take the MRT from Taoyuan to the airport to Taoyuan THSR it will take 10 minutes and it will cost 35 TWD.
From THSR Taoyuan Station to THSR Taichung Station will take 40 minutes and prices are around 540 TWD you can book online for one way. Take note that THSR Station is usually outside the city and will take 15-20 by taxi or train to get city center.
Taoyuan Airport to TRA Taichung
If you want to get from Taipei Airport to Taichung by Taiwan Railways the local train TRA. You will have to get Ubus No. 706 to TRA Taoyuan Station it will take 50 minutes and it will cost 35 TWD.
From TRA Taoyuan Station to TRA Taichung Station will take 1 hour and 40 minutes and prices are around 300-340 TWD. The TRA Taichung Station is close to city center and you can go walking or by bus to your final destination.
How to get from Taoyuan Airport to Taichung by Taxi
If you want to get from Taoyuan Airport to Taichung by taxi will be the most comfortable and easiest way. Taoyuan Airport to Taichung travel time by taxi is 1 hour and 50 minutes if there is no traffic. The distance is 150 kilometers between the airport and Taichung.
It can a great option if you are traveling in a group oir with so much luggage. Prices are around 3600 TWD which is $120 USD.

Best way from Taoyuan Airport to Taichung
If you ask me the best way from Taoyuan Airport to Taichung I would say by bus. Since prices are cheaper, you avoid commuting transportation and the bus departure is every 30 minutes.
If you prefer comfort and you have the budget taxi can be a great option. TRA and THSR could your option if your place to stay in Taichung is near by.
ATMS AND CASH IN TAIWAN
There are a few ATMs in the airport that they don’t charge commission. There are a couple of places to exchange money in the airport. Outside the airport, it can be difficult to exchange money in Taiwan. You will be able to do it only in banks.

BUYING EASY CARD
We have to say that for us the best way to travel around Taiwan in Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung was using the Easycard. You just need to charge credit and you can use in MRT, buses and even going to tourist places like Fo Guang Shang Memorial which is outside the center in Kaohsiung. Plus you can use for buying in 7 Eleven and convenience stores in the country. So it’s pretty convenient.
You can purchase in convenience stores everywhere in Taiwan. Also available in the airport you will pay 100 TWD which is $3 USD nonrefundable. It’s comfortable and every time that you use your Easy Card you get 15-20% discounts in your MRT and bus trips.

Where to stay in Taichung
La Vida Hotel
We stayed at La Vida in Taichung City. It’s close to Fengjia night market and close to the bus terminal coming from Tainan and Taipei. The location is so convenient! You can also get a bus going to Rainbow Village and Taichung city center just a few meters walking distance from La Vida Hotel.
About La Vida Hotel in Taichung City was the perfect place to stay for us. You can enjoy high speed connection and coffee and snacks 24 hours. It was perfect for catching up with work. Plus a green area for relaxing with your coffee and snacks too. We loved it our bathtub with TV, how modern was everything in the room in a minimalist atmosphere.
The breakfast was great with Chinese and Western options. The staff was super friendly and facilities were great that’s why is ranking as one of the highest in Booking.com in Taichung City.
