1. TAIPEI 101
Taipei 101 is formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center, was the world’s tallest building from 2004 to 2010. An iconic tower which has ravishing architectural in the center and of the most instagrammable places in Taipei, Taiwan. It even has the fastest elevator so you should try that, it goes 90+ stories in just 35 seconds! It is such a beautiful building that allows you to see the nice landscape of Taipei from the top.
You will like the food court here since it offers good collection of famous food stalls. There is Galleria mall in lower levels selling fine products. They simply have bunch of famous shops and store brands which attract millions of tourists each year. Read here our Taipei 101 experience!
The usual Taipei 101 Entrance fee is around 600 TWD which is $20 USD. But you can get discount with Klook Taipei 101 Ticket until 50%. You can print the ticket in the machine and wait the line to go to Taipei 101 building. For this day we booked 101 Taipei Observatory with KKDay and it was so cool the experience. It allowed us to save time since there are huge lines going to the elevator. On the way down there is also line.

The easiest and cheapest way is to take the Ximen MRT Station to Taipei Metro Station which costs a dollar and takes 23 minutes only for the ride. The quickest way is to take a taxi which costs $8-10 USD but will only take you 6 minutes!

2. ELEPHANT MOUNTAIN
Elephant Mountain is also known as Xiangshan Hiking Trail, is the perfect place to see the best views of Taipei. You’ll definitely love to go here especially that it is not a difficult hike. It will only take you 15-20 minutes to get to the top where you watch the beautiful city views. Just expect a big crowd since many people visit Elephant Mountain as it’s one of the popular Instagram spots in Taipei..
HOW TO GET TO ELEPHANT MOUNTAIN
Just ride the Taipei Metro for $1 USD going to Xiangshan Station. It will take only 7 minutes. Once you arrived, just walk for 10 minutes more to reach Elephant Mountain.
3. NATIONAL CHIANG KAI-SHEK MEMORIAL HALL
One of our favorite Instagrammable places in Taipei is very famous to tourists the Chinag Kai-Shek Memorial Hall. It’s located in the heart of Taipei City and has become a popular landmark since then. World famous musicians have already performed at the National Theater and National Concert Hall which is also one of the purposes of the great building.
HOW TO GET TO NATIONAL CHIANG KAI-SHEK MEMORIAL HALL
To get to National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall you can ride the metro for 11 minutes and it will only cost you $1 USD. Alternatively, you can also ride a taxi for $5-7 USD and it will take 5-7 minutes.
4. SHILIN NIGHT MARKET
This market is one of the largest and most popular night markets in Taiwan. If you are like Rachel who loves shopping, you’ll enjoy this place! There’s a lot of things to buy here, from food, clothes, shoes, and many other stuff. These things are either local or international. It’s just 70 meters away from MRT Jiantan Station so it’s accessible.

5. Longshan Temple
Longshan Temple is 300 years old and apart of how beautiful could be for your Instagram spots in Taipei it’s also a place to visit where you will see local praying and doing offerings. You will find a mix of religion Taoist and Buddhist as most of the temples in Taiwan. And we just loved the vibe!
How to get to Longshan Temple
You have to get to Longshan Temple Metro Station for $1 USD and you will see the temple always busy with locals.
6. Ximending Taipei
Ximending Taipei is one of the busiest and msot instagrammable places in Taipei. It will remind you to Tokyo the street is colorful and full of people. There are a lot of restaurants, shops and if you like street food will be also a paradise. Ximending Taipei is located at Ximen MRT Station and it will be easy to get here. We recommend you to visit at night time since it’s more beautiful with the lights.
7. Taipei Public Library Beitou Branch
Taipei Public Library Beitou Branch is a modern library built in 2006 inside Beitou Park area which is also popular because of Beitou Hot Spring. It’s really eco-friendly being enrgy and water efficient. It’s opened everyday from 8 30 am until 9 pm. And Sunday and monday from 9 am to 5pm. It will be closed the first Thursday of the month and National Holidays.

To get to Taipei Public Library Beitou Branch you can go until Xinbeitou Metro Station which is located in Beitou District and walk around 5 minutes to reach the Library.
8. 228 Peace Park Taipei
228 Peace Park Taipei is a historic and municipal park located at Zhongzheng District. 228 Peace Park Taipei is a beautiful park with a big pagoda in the middle and Japanese Gardens. You will see many people walking around and it’s one of the most popular Instagram spots in Taipei. You will see also locals bringing food to spend the afternoon.
9. Liberty Square Arch
Liberty Square Arch is a public plaza located in the Zhongzheng District of Taipei. Liberty Square Arch is one of the most instagrammable places in Taipei and you will see locals taking pictures of the gates with the reflections. It’s especially busy at sunset.
How to Get to Liberty Square Arch
To get to Liberty Square Arch just go to To get to National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall Metro Station and walk around the area since the gate is located in the South Entrance. It will be only 10-15 minutes by metro!
10. Tao Zhu Yin Yuan
Tao Zhu Yin Yuan is also known as Agora Garden is a residential building located in Xinyi District and it’s one of the most instagrammable places in Taipei. The building has 21 floors and four basement levels. Tao Zhu Yin Yuan was designed by the Belgian architect Vincent Callebaut and it was completed in 2018 pretty new!
How to get to Tao Zhu Yin Yuan
To get to Tao Zhu Yin Yuan you will have to reach Nangang Exhibition Center Metro Station and walk 5 minutes to reach the buildings.

All these instagrammable places in Taipei are 1-2 hour driving distance from the city. Some of them are easy to reach by public transportation and others will be easier booking a tour.
11. TAROKO NATIONAL PARK
Taroko National Park is also known as ‘The Beautiful Island of Taiwan’, the second largest national park in Taiwan. The national park is absolutely beautiful, splendid and very huge. The sceneries and landscapes are dramatic, so you must not miss capturing beautiful photos. It is absolutely incredible. You can’t miss this and worth of lifetime. You should also take the trails. It is a must so you should not miss it if you visit Taiwan since there are so many awesome trails in Taroko, if you want to explore all the trails, you should spend at least 2 days there!
HOW TO GET TO TAROKO NATIONAL PARK
Take the Ximen MRT Station to Taipei Main Station which will cost you $1 and takes about 3 minutes. From Taipei Main Station board a railway train to Hualien Railway Station. The fare is $10 to $15 USD and takes about 3 hours depending on type of train. Then, hire a cab going to Taroko Gorge.

12. RAINBOW VILLAGE
Rainbow Village is a village in Nantun District, Taichung City that is unique because of the colorful houses here, thus, the name. All of the paintings in this village are painted by Grandpa Rainbow, Mr. Huang Yung-Fu. Tourists come and visit this to take pictures because of its fun, vibrant vibes. HOW TO GET TO RAINBOW VILLAGE IN NANTUN DISTRICT
To reach Rainbow Village, you can ride a train going to Taichung. The ride takes approximately 1 hour and costs $21-25 USD. From HSR Taichung Station, ride a bus going to the Rainbow village. It will take 12 minutes and costs $1-2 USD.

13. JIUFEN OLD STREET
Jiufen Old Street is one of the many places in Taiwan where you can shop for local things, eat local dishes, and mingle with locals. Jiufen Old Street is the most prosperous shopping district so if you love shopping like Rachel does, you have to stay for a day or two here to enjoy the experience. HOW TO GET TO JIUFEN OLD STREET
From Taipei, ride the train going to Ruifang station. The 1-hour train ride will cost you $1-3 USD. Once you arrived in Ruifang Station, have an 11-minute bus ride going to Jiufen which costs $1-2 USD. Finally, you have to walk for at least 7 minutes to reach the Old Street of Jiufen.

14. Wen Wu Temple
Wen Wu Temple is a beautiful spot to visit around Taipei. We were visiting temples and watching the amazing views of the division of the Lake between Sun and Moon. We went there for the sunset we went to Wen Wu Temple which was our favorite stop of the day. From here we went back to Taipei Main Station and this time it took us less than 3 hours since we found less traffic.

15. SUN MOON LAKE
Sun Moon Lake is considered to be the largest body of water in Taiwan found in Nantou County. The area surrounding Sun Moon Lake is where the Thao Tribe lives, one of the aboriginal tribes in Taiwan. This lake surrounds the tiny island Lalu. It is known that the east side of the lake resembles a sun while the west resembles a moon.
That is why it’s called Sun Moon Lake. Take note that swimming in Sun Moon Lake is prohibited, except during the annual 3-km race called the Swimming Carnival of Sun Moon Lake celebrated around the Mid-Autumn Festival annually. Read here how to get to Sun Moon Lake from Taipei!

16. Pingxi District
Pingxi District is a rural area in New Taipei and it’s becoming popular because of the train pass and the Lantern Festival. We visited Pingxi to learn how to make a lantern and fly them. It was a cool experience and you can see a few pictures below. People are flying the lanterns in Pingxi Old Street and you have to stop when the train is coming. The town is so beautiful and we really loved the vibe there.

Hualien is a nice place to explore around and experience the local vibes. It’s only an hour away from Taroko National park. You can visit the beaches and you can even do dolphin and whale watching. At night, you have to go to Dongdamen night market our favorite one in Taiwan where you can buy most things for affordable prices and enjoy delicious local food. 18. Golden Waterfall
Golden Waterfall is located near Jiufen in Ruifang District. It’s a nice place to stop before getting Jiufen and taking pictures. You can also hike around the area and explore. It can be quite busy since Jiufen is one of the most instagrammable places in Taipei and many visitors go there!
Wulai is a mountainous district on the southern part of New Taipei City. You have to visit The Wulai Atayal Museum which traces the history of indigenous Atayal people, ride the cable car that runs up to the majestic Wulai Waterfall, swim in its hot springs and pools by the Nanshi River, and appreciate nature at Neidong Forest Recreation Area.

20. BA YAN WILD HOTSPRINGS IN YANGMINGSHAN NATIONAL PARK

The last but not the least, don’t forget to visit Yangmingshan National Park. It is one of the 9 national parks in Taiwan, located between Taipei and New Taipei City. Since it’s already in Taipei, it’s very accessible and you can do a lot of things here aside from taking Instagrammable pictures. There are mountains here, as well as volcanic geography and hot springs, making it a summer destination for both locals and tourists. It’s truly a beautiful urban garden that you can go to if you want to experience nature even in the city!
One of the hot spring here is the Ba Yan Ye Xi Hot Spring, a hidden wild hot spring in Yangmingshan National Park. You can take a dip here and relax. Just wear a proper swimming attire and expect it to be busy especially on the weekends.
HOW TO GET TO YANGMINGSHAN NATIONAL PARK
Riding a bus to get to Lengshuikeng from Jiantan Station in Taipei will take you 40 minutes and cost you $1 USD. From Lengshuikeng , walk for 4 minutes to reach Yangmingshan National Park. Alternatively, you can also take a taxi ride for $19-23 USD. It’s faster and will only take 20 minutes.

We have to say that for us was the best way to travel around Taipei since you just put load and you can use in MRT and buses. Plus you can use for buying in 7 Eleven and convenience stores in the country. So i’s pretty convenient.
You can purchase in convenience stores. Also available in the airport you will pay 100 TWD which is $3 USD non refundable. It’s comfortable and every time that you use your Easy Card you get 15% discounts in your MRT and bus trips. You can recharge in convenience stores or in MRT Stations. You can use that money to buy in convenience stores in Taiwan. It’s great since there are Family Mart 7 Eleven all over Kaohsiung and Taiwan.

BEST TIME TO VISIT TAIPEI
Taipei is located in North Taiwan so the weather is really nice it can be cold in January and February. In Taipei and the weather it’s not so hot like Tainan and Kaohsiung. The best time to visit Taipei is from November to April when the weather is dry and not so hot the temperature.
November to April: The weather is dry and temperature is not so hot. The coldest months are January and February. May to October: The weather is so hot and it’s rainy season. The typhoon season is starting from July to September when is the most rainy season in Taiwan.

ATMS AND CASH IN TAIWAN
There are few ATMs in the airport that they don’t charge commission. There are a couple of places to exchange money in the airport. Outside the airport it can be difficult to exchange money in Taiwan. You will be able to do it only in banks. The exchange rate $1 USD= 30 TWD.
