How to get to Coron
How to get to Coron by Plane
There are daily direct flights going from Coron to Manila, Cebu and Clark. It will take around one hour the flight. And the airport Francisco B. Reyes is located in Busuanga is 20 minutes driving distance far from Coron town on the North. It’s one of the smallest airport that we have even seen!

How to get to Coron from El Nido
There are a few options fast and slow boat with different schedules and prices. You can get the slow boat around 1300 PHP and it takes 6-7 hours. And you can get the fast boat around 3 hours for 1700 PHP. Up to you guys a few dollars for beers, smoothies or just paying for your comfort.
From El Nido we took the fast boat going to Coron. Around 3 hours of boat time to Coron’s port from El Nido.

Best Time to visit Coron
The best time to visit Coron is from December to May when it’s dry season. Just expect the prices to be high and more crowded because it is peak season. From June to November will be rainy season. Coron will be less crowded and prices will go down.

ATM’s in Coron
Coron is far from the capital city of Palawan which is Puerto Princesa. There are a few ATM’s in Coron and places where you can exchange your money. We recommend for you to bring cash just in case ATMs are not working or not nearby. The current exchange rate is $1 USD = 51 PHP. Click here to know the exact exchange rate.

Internet and Wifi Connection in Coron
If you are going to visit Coron WIFI is not the best but it works great we would say than better than in El Nido. If you have 4G in your phone will be great and you can catch up with work online not the fastest but it works.

Entrance Fees in Coron
There are tours that don’t include entrance fees. Or maybe you decide to do a private tour in Coron. These are the entrance fees to the main Coron tourist spots:

Transportation Island Hopping Prices Around Coron
The prices for renting a motorbike are 500 PHP per day. Tricycles charge around 100-300 PHP depending on the distance that you are doing in Coron. But expect for one ride from the port around 100-200 PHP to your hotel.
Island hopping in Coron has similar prices than in El Nido. If you join a tour prices are around 1200 PHP with entrance fees included and lunch. If you decide to rent a private boat prices are 3000 PHP for 4 people and they will not include entrance fees and lunch.
But they will cook for you if you buy food from the market. Prices for the island hopping can go higher if you go to beaches on the North like Black Island since it takes longer to reach there. Expect to pay around 1000 PHP extra for entrance fees depending how many places you visit.
If you want to join a tour we recommend you Ultimate Tour 1200 PHP where you can see the main Coron tourist spots like Barracuda Lake, Twin Lagoon and Kayangan Lake. You will enjoy a paradise beach for lunch. Expect places are little bit crowded since most of the tours visit same places at the same time.
Another tour that you could take is Escape if you like beaches. You will be able to visit Malcapuya Island, Ditaytayan Sand Bar and Coconut Beach for 1500 PHP with lunch and entrance fees included.
If you want to go off the beaten path in Coron. Calumbuyan Island and Pass Island are perfect for visiting and you can do both together in the same day. There is 2 hours boat ride from Coron town. Prices of the boats are 5000 PHP good enopugh for 4 people. You have to add 200 PHP entrance fee for each island.
You can get better price if you go to Salvacion or Concepcion in North Busuanga in your own to visit Calumbuyan Island and Pass Island. There are jeepneys, vans, tricycles or you can rent your own motorbike. From here you can get a boat 2000-3000 PHP going to the islands around.
Black Island is one of the most popular stops in Coron. It takes 2 hours and a half to reach there from Coron town. Prices are 8000 PHP per boat for 4 people. You can also combine with Calauit since is in the North part of Coron. Calauit is a safari popular because of the giraffes.
You can get better prices going to Black Island and Calauit if you go to Salvacion or Concepcion in North Busuanga in your own. There are jeepneys, vans, tricycles or you can rent your own motorbike. From here you can get a boat 2000-3000 PHP going to the islands around.
If you want to visit remote islands we recommend you to visit Dumunpalit Island. You can go Maricaban port which is close to Francisco B. Reyes Airport by van, tricycle or renting a motorbike it will take around 45 minutes to get there. From Maricaban port the boat ride takes 90 minutes. Prices are 3000 PHP for the boat and the entrance fee to this amazing island is 200 PHP. We didn’t stay overnight but I guess if you are bringing your own tent you can ask them to stay. The island is amazing and totally worth it the visit.
More Island Hopping in Coron
Apart from joining to the daily tours close to Coron town private or joining a tour. Also you can do 1-2 hours boat ride to islands less crowded and more private.
There are companies that offers tours around Coron 3-4 days. Also the possibility of doing Coron El Nido 3-5 days prices for these tours are expensive but the experience is great. It can costs around $100 USD per person and night all meals, entrance fees and accommodation included. It will allow you to visit remote islands all of them for yourself. At the same tiem you will enjoy an amazing experience outside your comfort zone sleeping in bamboo huts or tents. But with amazing sunsets, sunrises, snorkelings and paradise islands.
How Many Days Should I Spend in Coron (Itinerary)
At least you need to spend 3 nights and 2 complete days so you can do two island hopping in Coron. The first day if you get for lunch we recommend you to do as we did. Going for Mount Tapyas for sunset and after this to Maquinit Hotsprings since they open until late. There are tours organizing the activity, click here if you want to book with klook.
1 Day in Coron
There are a few island hopping to do in Coron. It depends what you prefer. If you hire a private boat will be more expensive but you will enjoy better the places with less people. If you join a tour the departure is around 9 30 am and you will see all the places crowded, still beautiful!
We can recommend you 2 island hopping in Coron. The Escapade mentioned above going to Malcapaya Island and The Ultimate tour.
2 Day in Coron
You can choose other island hopping or going on your own for a day trip. If you did the Ultimate tour you can try the Escapade and visiting paradise islands in Coron during the day. At night you can go out for dinner. Restaurants like Altrove or the View Deck the quality of the food is great. Prices are expensive comparing with other local places in Coron but food and service is great!
More Days in Coron
We recommend you to visit islands outside Coron town like Pass Island, Black Island or Dumunpalit Island. There are a few options that we mentioned above in the island hopping in Coron. Check them out!
There are other activities like kayaking and snorkeling that you can do renting a motorbike and exploring Coron on your own. You could join Mont Tapyas and Maquinit Hot Springs if you have time in the evening before dinner.
If you are into Coron and you want to visit everywhere you can get an expedition boat staying in the islands in tents or bamboo huts. Or an expedition going to El Nido. It takes 3-5 days and the experience is amazing!
Daily Travel Budget in Coron
For your daily travel budget in Coron will be more expensive that other destinations in the Philippines. For transportation distances aren’t big but tricycle will charge you 50-100 PHP.
For food prices are affordable and you can get a meal in local restaurants (carinderias) starting for 80-100 PHP and 200-300 PHP in Western restaurants per person.
Prices for joining an island hopping will be around 1200-1500 PHP per person lunch and entrance fees included depending on the tour that you are joining. If you decide to do a private tour prices per boat will be starting around 3000 PHP for 2 people and adding 1000 PHP per entrance fees depending on the places that you want to visit. It will not include lunch like in El Nido. But you can buy food in the market and the crew will cook for you.
Prices for accommodation will be expensive for the quality. Cheapest prices per a room starting for 1000 PHP (cheaper than 1000 PHP you can find a dorm). And don’t expect so much for this. Getting good places to stay in Coron 2000-4000 PHP for a room with breakfast included.

Coron Tourist Spots
1. Diving in Coron
During the day we spent our day diving and snorkeling around Coron. It was amazing the experience diving after a few years without doing. Rachel enjoyed snorkeling and both the boat ride in so beautiful landscape.

2. Mont Tapyas
We got surprised of the views in Mont Tapyas and it was so much fun. You have to climbing for 20-30 minutes 720 stairs to reach the top and get the views. We did at sunset time and we can recommend that 100% the experience. Check out the photos:
After a nice walk, the tour can be done in 1-2 hours and it’s free with no entrance fee. It will take around 20-30 minutes to go up (not too much too see the best is going direct to the top in our opinion and enjoying the views and the sunset there). It depends how long you want to spend on the top. We stayed half an hour taking pictures and enjoying the views.
And after this you have 15 minutes going down to your pick up van if you are joining a tour or you can hire a tricycle. Prices for the tricycle going to Maquinit Hot Springs from 300-400 PHP return.
3. Maquinit Hot Springs
After climbing to Mont Tapyas nothing better that Hot Springs. It was so relaxing and if you love hot water as I do you will love relaxing. The place was full of local people mostly and also foreigners. We loved the vibe in Coron where you can see foreigners and locals visiting at the same time.
To get to the Hot Springs from Mont Tapyas you have 45 minutes ride. You will get at night time after the sunset and it´s perfect to enjoy for at least an hour swimming or just relaxing feeling the hot water. There are different pool areas two small ones and one big one. Prices for the tricycle going from 300-400 PHP return from Coron town. The entrance fee to the Hot Springs is 200 PHP per person.
4. Island Hopping
After more than two weeks traveling around Palawan: Port Barton, El Nido and Coron this one was our last Island Hopping of the trip. And it didn´t disappointed us. We loved it so much, Coron is so beautiful. It´s really hard to choice which one you like better in Palawan, Port Barton, El Nido or Coron? All of them are amazing places!
5. Kayangan Lake
Kayangan is huge lake with amazing views as you can see in the pictures! If you want to enjoy this place for yourself we recommend you to come before 9 30 am. Tours starts at 9 am and they will get around that time. It’s so beautiful and whatever alone or crowded you will love it! Entrance fee is 300 PHP.
6. Banol Beach
This beautiful beach is perfect to stay a few hours and enjoy especially if you do in a private tour avoiding lunch time. Tours are stopping here for lunch and it can be crowded but still beautiful. Entrance fee 150 PHP.
7. Barracuda Lake

It’s a perfect paradise for diving and snorkeling. You will have to park your boat and walk to reach there. You will enjoy amazing clear waters, the walk is amazing between the rocks and one of our favorite palces to visit in Coron. The tours stop by Barracuda Lake and it’s becoming so popular lately. Entrance fee 200 PHP.
8. Twin Lagoon

Twin Lagoon is a popular Coron tourist spot. It’s so beautiful to see two lagoons together. If you do a private tour you can go first thing in the morning to enjoy by yourself this unreal place. Also at lunch time is good timing since tours stops in the beaches. If you are joining a tour make sure you visit here. Entrance fee is 200 PHP.
9. CYC Beach
It’s part of the island hopping tour in Coron. The beach with white sand, mangrove trees and clear water is really beautiful. The landscape around is amazing with the rock formations. There is no entrance for visiting this beach in Coron.
10. Coral Reef Garden
If you are joining a tour will be a snorkeling point. You will see fishes and corals. It’s very beautiful and you can’t miss it in Coron. Entrance fee 150 PHP.
11. Skeleton Wreck
The skeleton shipwreck was also an incredible sight to see. The skeleton shipwreck was a 12 meters dive. It was an easy dive and we took our time to enjoy the underwater scenery. We spent almost an hour diving. First part watching fishes and the corals. And the second part going around the wreck. The wreck was visible even if you do snorkeling, I would say around 4 meters deep.
12. Siete Pecados
Siete Pecados is one of the best places for snorkeling. You can get there by motorbike or tricycle. Once there you can choose renting a kayak or a boat. Bring your own snorkeling mask if not you can rent there for 100 PHP.
13. Bulog Dos

A beautiful sand bar is waiting for you two hours boat ride from Coron. Actually is closer from Culiyon Islands. It’s part of the tour with Banana Island and Malcapuya Island. The entrance fee is 150 PHP.

14. Banana Island

A paradise island again Coron with white beach and clear water. The tours stop for lunch and it’s quite nice. If you want to avoid the crowd come before or after lunch to Banana Island. Entrance fee 250 PHP and 1000 PHP per person if you stay overnight.
15. Malcapuya Island
It’s a paradise island where you would love to relax. You can get here as a part of the tour or on your own private boat. It will take 1 hour and 30 minutes. You can stay overnight, there are a few tours offering sleeping in a bamboo hut. Entrance fee is 250 PHP.
16. Ditaytayan Island
An amazing sand bar is more than an hour boat ride from Coron. You can visit in a tour also expedition tours are visiting as we did. We enjoyed the island almost for ourselves flying the drone. You can also swim in the clear waters. Entrance fee 150 PHP.
17. Black Island

It’s far from Coron town more than two hours boat ride. Less time if you decide to take the boat from Salvacion or Concepcion. It’s an amazing island to enjoy the day. Apart from staying in the island you can visit the caves and there is a wreck in front of the beach. Entrance fee is 200 PHP.
18. North Cay

North Cay is close to South Cay and you will find white sand, tropical palm trees and clear waters. It will take two hours from Coron town. As we mentioned before it will take less time if you are leaving from Concepcion and Salvacion. There is an entrance fee 200 PHP.
19. South Cay
South Cay is close to North Cay and you will find white sand, tropical palm trees and clear waters. It’s great for swimming and snorkeling It will take two hours from Coron town. As we mentioned before it will take less time if you are leaving from Concepcion and Salvacion. There is an entrance fee 200 PHP.
20. Pass Island

To reach Pass Island from Coron you will have to ride a boat for 2 hours. Less time if you decide to ride a jeepney, van or tricycle to Salvacion and Concepcion. Amazing island with palm trees, white sand and clear water. You can stay overnight. The entrance fee is 200 PHP and 1000 PHP per person if you stay overnight.
21. Calambuyan Island

It’s close to Pass Island. And most of the people combine them. To reach to Calambuyan Island read the information above for Pass Island. Calambuyan Island is more popular for snorkeling. The entrance fee is 200 PHP.
22. Maltatayoc Island

A perfect island to explore off the beaten path. It’s two hours far from Coron town. The island is perfect for snorkeling and you can stay overnight if you are part of an expedition tour in Coron. 23. Dumunpalit Island
One of the best islands that we have ever seen. It’s almost not getting tourists yet. You have to go to Maricaban port by motorbike, tricycle or van. From there you can get a boat 1 hour and 30 minutes to Dumunpalit Island. The boat costs 3000 PHP and the entrance fee is 200 PHP per person. The water is so clear and you can stay overnight if you are bringing a tent.

24. Bali Beach

It’s only 7 kilometers far from Coron town. It will take you 20 minutes to get there and you can go there by motorbike or tricycle. It’s a long beach and clean ideal to spend your day if you feel doing island hopping. The entrance fee is 50 PHP.
25. Cabo Beach

It’s only 8 kilometers far from Coron town. It will take you 20 minutes to get there and you can go there by motorbike or tricycle. It’s close to Bali Beach and there aren’t many stores around. Make sure you bring water and snacks if you decide to spend the day or a few hours. The entrance fee is 50 PHP.
26. Ocam Ocam Beach

Ocam Ocam Beach is a calm, quiet and remote beach located in the North part of Coron more than an hour driving to get there. You can stay overnight in the beach there are a few cottages. The entrance fee is 50 PHP.
27. Marcilia Beach

It’s 20 kilometers far from Coron town and it will take you around 40 minutes to get there by tricycle or motorbike. If you have time to spend in Coron or you are renting a motorbike can be a great plan to do.
28. Kingfisher Park

Kingfisher Park is located 45 minutes tricycle or motorbike ride North from Coron town. If you like bird watching can be a great paln to do in Coron at night. During the day you can hike to the mountain and kayaking too.
Where to Stay in Coron
For our staying Coron we chose the Palladium Hotel which is located 1.5 kilometers outside Coron town in a quiet area. It’s a beautiful place where we could stay online catching up with work after our expedition El Nido to Coron with Buhay Isla Eco Tour.

Where to Eat in Coron
Altrove
Our favorite restaurant was Altrove in Coron town where you can have pizza and pasta as we did and it’s delicious. Prices are expensive but food and service is great!
View Deck
It was one of our favorite palces for dinner with great views on the rooftop for a drink. It’s located in Coron town and you can find Western and Filipino choices. Plus you will find international wine and beers if you want to try them.
Boodle Fight
If you want to join friends and family and eat local food. You can try Boodle fight. They will put food on the table and you will eat with your hands. Be ready and fast making sure the food isn’t finishing fast ha!
Local Carinderias
There are local carinderias around Coron where you can have a meal rice with chicken, pork or fish for less than $2 USD if you are going on a tight budget. And also you love to try local dishes.
