There are daily buses and trains going to Chambery from Grenoble and from main of the places around. I went during my road trip from Grenoble to Chambery and it was around 1 hour driving. If you want to drive from North Spain will be around 6-7 hours driving depending where you are coming from.

BEST TIME TO VISIT CHAMBERY

Chambery is a small town that you can visit the whole year. In winter will be the best time for visiting Chambery if you are looking for Ski Resorts and similar activities.

Fontaine des Elephants was called before Column of Boigne. Nowdays is popular for the Elephants and is located in city center where I started to visit all the Chambery tourist spots from the most popular one in this little town.

2. Chateau des Ducs de Savoie

Chateau des Ducs de Savoie or castle of Chambéry is an old castle from XIth century. It was modified a few times from 1502 to 1578 and nowdays is in the heart of Chambery city center. Chateau des Ducs de Savoie entrance fee is 6€ with free entrance under 12 years old and the opening schedule starts at 10 30 am.

3. Chambéry Cathedral

Chambéry Cathedral also called Cathédrale Saint François de Sales is a Roman Catholic church dedicated to Saint François de Sales and is the seat of the Archbishopric of Chambéry. The Chambéry Cathedral was built in 15th century and established in 1779. It’s one of the things to do in Chambery that you can’t miss it.

4. Lake Bourget

Lake Bourget is the most beautiful place in Chambery in my opinion and my favorite one in the list of things to do in Chambery. You can go there by bicycle, car or public transportation since is a couple of kilometers outside the city.

There are a few beaches where is able to swim. You can also do kayaking if you wish or walking around the are since there are ways for this. The perfect atmosphere in Chambery.

5. Musee des Beaux Arts

Musee des Beaux Arts is the art Museum in Chambery. There are a few collections about art or history with the French Revolution. Musee des Beaux Arts entrance fee is 6€ and the opening schedule is from 10 am to 6pm everyday except Monday that is closed.

6. La Forge Des Halles

La Forge Des Halles is the ideal place to try local food and one of the best things to do in Chambery. It’s opening from the morning until late afternoon and it’s great for a coffee or small snacks.
