Chebakia is a sesame cookie from Morocco that is formed into a flower, fried, and then honey-coated. It’s also called as mkharka and is traditionally eaten during Ramadan and special events.

Chebakia takes a long time to prepare. For huge quantities of food, most Moroccan women request the help of a sister, mother or friend.

Khobz is a delicious bread. Khobz is made in communal wood-fired ovens and offered with a variety of dishes. Also, make sure to try all of Morocco’s other breads, such as harcha (a buttered bread), rghaif (a fluffy flatbread), and baghira (spongy crumpet).

Dates can be purchased by the pound from stalls in the plaza or cooked in a variety of tajine combinations.

Olives in Morocco are so popular. Morocco is the world’s fifth largest producer and exporter of olive oil. Before each meal, you’ll probably get a small bowl of seasoned olives.

And they’re found in just about every Moroccan cuisine. If you’re not a fan of olives, you’d better get used to remove them from your meals!

Harcha or Harsha is a pan-fried bread made from Semolina, a popular Moroccan pastry. It resembles a little bit that of an English muffin, however, the texture and taste of the Moroccan Harcha is much closer to that of a cornbread.

Best eaten during breakfast or tea time, served warm, and can be partnered with jam, cheese, honey syrup and melted butter.

31. Baghrir / Beghrir – Moroccan Crêpe

Baghrir or Beghrir is the Moroccan Semolina Pancakes. It can also be Honeycomb pancakes. These Morrocan pancakes have tiny little holes on them because of the yeast in the pancake batter, which causes multiple bubbles to form and break on the surface of the Moroccan pancakes as it cooks.

This is what makes the look and the texture of the Moroccan pancakes unique. Baghrir is commonly cooked only on one side, although in other parts of Morocco, it is flipped and cooked in both sides, and the latter is known as Khringos, or tiny, fritter-like Moroccan churros.
