There are 17 Beautiful Regions in the Philippines. There are 8 Regions in Luzon ((Regions I, II, III, IV-A, IV-B, V, CAR and NCR)) three in Visayas (VI, VII, VIII) and six regions in Mindanao (IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, BARMM).

REGIONS IN THE PHILIPPINES

1. NCR (NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION)

It’s located in Metro Manila where most of the international travelers arrived to the Philippines. Binondo and Intramuros are our Manila tourist spots. There are many hotels, bars and restaurants especially in Makati area.

2. CORDILLERA ADMINISTRATIVE REGION

We also love this area in the Philippines. The most popular places are Banaue and Batad where you will enjoy the rice terraces. Beautiful landscapes, simple life with not so much transportation around being popular the jeepney rides on the top since is so crowded.

And also Baguio City called summer capital of the Philippines. Make sure you wear clothes since at night time can get cold until 10 degrees. You can go around the mountains and visit a strawberry farm.

3. REGION 1 (ILOCOS REGION)

We have to admit that Region 1 in Ilocos Norte is one of our favorite regions in the Philippines. The main tourist spots are Vigan, UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bangui Windmills, Laoag, La Union popular for surfers and backpackers.

The amazing Hundred Islands in Pangasinan. And our top favorite places in North of the Philippines Pagudpud. Quiet and calm beach in a windy area with amazing sunsets.

4. REGION 2 (CAGAYAN VALLEY)

One of our favorite Batanes tourist spots and for sure the best in North tour. We recommend you visiting at sunset and enjoy the colors while taking pictures or just sitting down and relaxing.

Cagayan Valley Region for us have a magical place to visit in the Philippines. Batanes in the Northen part. In the island you will see amazing landscapes, traditional lighthouses and we tried delicious Ivatan cuisine in our stay in Batanes. Marlboro Country and Rolling Hills where you can see a green landscape really nice to visit during the sunset.

5. REGION 3 (CENTRAL LUZON)

In Central Luzon in the Philippines we are based in Angeles City. And we have been traveling around very often in Bataan, Zambales and Subic. Zambales is great for island hopping and visiting nice beaches for a getaway from Manila and there are beautiful beaches in Bataan.

And Subic is a relaxed area where you will see locals and Western around. There are resorts and restaurants perfect for spending a weekend. Plus Clark International Airport is closed and getting international flights coming from Singapore and Hong Kong mainly. There are also many affordable options for internal flights.

6. REGION 4A (CALABARZON)

This region is one of the most popular for getaways from Manila. We have been exploring quite a lot this region in Tagaytay and Batangas. From quiet beaches like Nasugbu and Anilao in Batangas to adventure in Tagaytay hiking Taal Volcano.

Apart from Tagaytay and Batangas the weather and temperature is so refreshing at night being our favorite in the Philippines.

7. REGION 4B (MIMAROPA)

Here you will find amazing island and beaches in Palawan and Puerto Galera. The most touristic places in the Philippines are El Nido and Coron popular for island hopping. In Palawan Puerto Princesa with the Underground River UNESCO Site and affordable flight tickets from Manila and Cebu.

8. REGION 5 (BICOL REGION)

There are beautiful beaches in Camarines Norte and Catanduanes. If you like adventure Mt Mayon in Bicol Region and the whale sharks in Donsol are the best plans for you in this region in the Philippines.

9. REGION 6 (WESTERN VISAYAS)

This region in the Philippines is popular because of Boracay Island. We had to say that Boracay Island is a place that we love to go back especially with the good changes after the reopening in Boracay.

The colors of the waters and nightlife are amazing. Apart from Boracay Island you can’t miss interesting cities to visit Bacolod and Iloilo City. It’s great for knowing the culture in the Philippines and try traditional Filipino dishes.

10. REGION 7 (CENTRAL VISAYAS)

This region we have been exploring in few different trips. On the North of Cebu you will find magical places like Malapascua Island and Bantayan Island.

If you love beaches and sunsets, diving and snorkeling you will enjoy this area. On the South Bohol where you can see the tarsiers popular small primate in the Philippines and the magnificent Chocolate Hills.

For staying in Bohol people choose Panglao Island. And Siquijor Island perfect to explore 3-4 days around. You will find beautiful beaches and sunsets. Really nice waterfalls and it’s popular in the Philippines because of witch craft. You have to visit to know about this!

This region in the Philippines is in our bucket list. It’s not very touristic and popular for historical sites like Sto Nino Shrine and Heritage Museum. There are magical and unexplored beaches and the nature is amazing.

12. REGION 9 (ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA)

Zamboanga where you can see the Spanish influence in the language. They speak Chavacanowhich is quite similar to Spanish language. It’s located in Mindanao and popular for their beaches. Rachel did a visit but for me is still in my bucket list.

13. REGION 10 (NORTHERN MINDANAO)

In this area we had an amazing time in Camiguin Island. The views are amazing with the volcanoes. Plus two amazing islands: White Island and Mantigue Island. Great place for snorkeling, nice waterfalls to visit and there are also Hot Springs to relax after sunset to finish your day in Camiguin Island.

14. REGION 11 (DAVAO REGION)

Davao City is one of our favorite cities in the Philippines since there are many things to do in Davao and surroundings. But if we have to choose a place to visit in this region is Samal Island.

How magical is this place perfect for snorkeling and explore around. It’s not very touristic and the colors of the water are amazing. It’s located less than an hour by boat from Davao City.

15. REGION 12 (SOCCSKSARGEN)

What is most popular in this region because of the most popular guy in the Philippines Manny Pacquiao (the famous boxer). General Santos City and Lake Sebu are the main attractions to visit. We didn’t go here but we will update you soon of our favorite places to explore.

16. REGION 13 (CARAGA REGION)

And last region in the Philippines in Surigao del Note you will find a place that foreigners and locals love to visit: Siargao Island. It’s popular for surfing and there is a really nice island hopping. Great place and our favorite one in Mindanao Province. Apart from Siargao Island is popular Enchanted River in Surigao del Sur.

17. ARMM (AUTONOMOUS REGION IN MUSLIM MINDANAO)

You will find most of the habit-ants are Muslim while in the rest of the country are catholic their religion. There are popular islands in Sulu and virgin beaches. It’s the least explore region in the Philippines since there are rebel groups like Abu Sayaff in the region.
