WHAT TO DO IN SAN GIL

RAFTING

We did rafting in San Gil with Colombia Rafting and organized by Macondo Hostel where we stayed in San Gil. At Fonce River just a few minutes driving distance from San Gil. It was so much fun activity and as you can see in the pictures kids are allowed to join. Han 9 years old enjoyed rafting in San Gil so much!

Prices for rafting in San Gil is around 60K COP which is $15 USD per person. The rafting will last around 2 hours and they will drive you to your hostel. We really loved rafting in San Gil and it was a great way to spend the morning in San Gil.

You can do rafting at Rio Suarez for 200K per person which is around $50 USD with transfer included. Expect to have better waves and much more adventure than Fonce River.

PARAGLIDING

Paragliding in San Gil is one of the most popular activities to do. Rachel did Paragliding with Aventura Total organized by Macondo Hostel. They will drive you 1 hour from San Gil to Canon de la Chicamocha an amazing place to fly around with the best views around Bucaramanga nad Santander area. Rachel loved it so much!

Prices for paragliding in San Gil is 200K COP which is around $50 USD if you do Canon de la Chicamocha and 20 minutes flight.

If you go near San Gil prices can be half of the price. You can do paragliding in Curiti for 100K COP which is $25 USD but not so beautiful views as the Chicamocha.

Bungee Jumping in San Gil

Bungee Jumping in San Gil if you love adventure is a perfect activity to try. You can choose between 70 meters or 140 meters. You can do the activity in just a few minutes driving outside San Gil.

The prices are around 80K COP which is $20 USD if you try the small one. For 140 meters expect to pay 150K COP which is around $40 USD.

BIKING TOUR IN SAN GIL

You can do a biking tour in San Gil. You will have to join a tour for 250K COP which is around $55 USD with transportation included. Expect to stay 3-4 hours biking and easy difficulty while enjoying beautiful views around Santander area.

Spelunking in San Gil

Spelunking in San Gil for 35K COP which is less than $10 USD you can enjoy this activity in Curiti. You can do spelunking in Vaca and Indio. You can combine spelunking with hiking since isn’t deep and long the time in the cave it will be fun hiking and enjoying beautiful views before and after exploring the caves.

Canyoning in San Gil

Canyoning in San Gil prices can go from 70K to 120 K COP which is $20-30 USD. Canyoning in San Gil can last around 2-3 hours the activity and expect to jump into waterfalls 3 meters high. You can do the activity in La Laja and you will find a rappel of 20 meters.

TACOS NIGHT AT MACONDO HOSTEL

Tacos Night was organized at Macondo Hostel Thursday Night. You can join if you are a guest and apart from delicious tacos you can try Margaritas. The tacos were so delicious and Han loved them so much.

Prices for tacos are 20K COP which is $5 USD for 3 tacos (you can choose between pastor, chicken and vegetarian) all of them are so delicious. You can also visit them at Restaurante Tacos & Cuates in San Gil.

TEJO NIGHT

Tejo Night was also organized by Macondo Hostel for the guests able to join for free. You will enjoy the most popular Colombian game. It’s an easy and fun activity to try in San Gil. And playing Tejo in San Gil is free of charge. You just need to buy drinks and a beer cost less than $1 USD.

Tejo is easy and similar to Petanca or Petanque. You will have to throw the disk and try to hit the pink explosive to add 3 points. If you can hit them the closest to the pink explosive will have 1 point. It’s really fun to play for 2-3 hours and you will be able to meet locals and foreigners joining to play Tejo.

DAY TRIP TO BARICHARA

Walking around Barichara streets is so beautiful. Barichara is a small town and you can go within walking distance everywhere in 10-15 minutes. Barichara is so picturesque and we loved it taking pictures. It feels so calm and relaxed!

BARICHARA VIEWPOINT

To get to Barichara viewpoint you will have to walk 10 minutes outside the main square. You can ask locals but it’s easy to get there. On the way to the Barichara viewpoint, you will find beautiful and colorful streets too.
