How to get to Cambodia

You can get to Cambodia by plane. You will find cheap prices coming from Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. We always suggest to take a look at Skyscanner to get the best deals for flights. Visitors from the USA, Canada, and most of the European countries need a visa.

You can get visa on arrival and it will cost you $30 and just wait the line. If you are from the Philippines as Rachel, you will get 3 weeks for traveling Cambodia without visa.

You can get to Cambodia overland and by boat coming from Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. The most popular border crossing overland is Poipet/Aranyaprathet.

You must present a valid passport and a Cambodian visa if you will visit. , are most likely the ones who will be needing visa. And you can get your visa upon arriving that will cost you $30.

1. Sunset in Angkor Wat

The temple is simply breathtaking and exciting to explore!

It is filled with rice fields, while temples and palaces are covered in gold. And watching the sun rise or set is one of the best things that Angkor Wat could offer because you can take photos of the beautiful sceneries and stunning landscapes that you can treasure forever.  And those are the reasons why more than half of travelers visit Cambodia each year.

How to get there? There are a few options from hiring a tuk tuk, riding a bicycle, motorbike to hire a car and a driver to visit Angkor Wat.  Once you’re there, you will need to decide if you want a guide or would just explore by yourself, depending on your budget.

If you are in a tight budget, Tuk tuk could drive you around for $15-$20/day. Drivers are well informed and familiar with the temples so they will help you in your visit to Angkor Wat. And if you wish a proper guide, you just add $30/day.

2. Flying Angkor Wat

3. Koh Rong

And it is away from the city so it has no streets around, and no electricity. You can bond with few people and locals who live in the villages. And if you’d stay overnight, it is the best to stargaze and find solace among the stars. This island will be perfect for you if you are on a Social Media detox and just want some peace. It is simply a paradise and a dream place!

How to get there? 

To get to Koh Rong, the only option is to take the boat/ferry. And there are different kinds of boats to ride, and their costs are ranging around $5-$20 so you depending on your budget. The speed of the boats are quite slow. The trip can take 2-3 hours and will take you much longer depending on the choice of your boat.

 A private boat which costs $20 will take you to Sok San Beach Resort from Sihanoukville. The resort can be reached more than half an hour or so, depending on the kind of boat you opted. And it will take you another 5-minute drive to finally get into the hotel by riding a jeep.

If you want to witness something ravishing before your day finally comes to an end, you should try walking along the beach and savor how beautiful the sun sets across its horizon. It will be relaxing and calming, just hearing the sound of the waves across the shore.

6. Phnom Penh Mekong River

And with your $5, you can already have a meal for 2.  We also went on a short boat ride across the Mekong River and we stayed overnight in Mekong River after enjoying the sunset, it’s so peaceful and unique experience.

How to get there?

You can travel via bus, taxi, or boat, depending on your budget and the comfort you’d wish. But the easiest and most convenient is to go by bus from Siem Reap and it will normally be around 5 hours to get there or so, depending on the time you’ll go and consider the traffic as well.

7. Sihanoukville

Sihanoukville is a tourist attraction, a premier beach town, founded on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand in southern Cambodia, which has multiple beaches and small, offshore islands. Its coastal atmosphere and scenic views will offer you a great little tropical getaway.

And they offer a lot of water sports for you to enjoy from snorkeling to scuba trip. Sihanoukville will also give you a different look and feel than most Cambodian towns. It will be the perfect place for you to unwind and enjoy it beauty!

How to get there?

Trains, buses and taxis are your choices to get to Sihanoukville. If you are looking for comfort, you can ride a taxi that will take you around 4 hours to get there and will costs $60. But most visitors travel from Phnom Penh by bus. There are multiple of daily buses both economy ($4-$6) and VIP ($8-$10) between Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville Kampot and Kep.
