IS IT SAFE/DIFFICULT TO TRAVEL IN THE PHILIPPINES?

In this article you will see that budget travel in the Philippines will not be an issue for your next trip! Either safe or security, maybe you have been reading the news about it´s not safe. We get many messages while traveling in the Philippines, is it safe to travel in the Philippines?

It´s very safe and I consider the Philippines safer than traveling in my own country Spain. There is nothing you have to be worried about. You only have to use common sense in everything that you do, wherever you go and you will have no problem at all.

BEST TIME TO GO TO THE PHILIPPINES

The rainy season starts around May until October, strongest months are July, August and September. Well if you are coming during the rainy season, it’ll be raining a couple of days during the day but you will usually see the sun almost everyday.

I would avoid those rainy months if I can, but no worries you will find sunny days and it will be less crowded in some places that you visit in the Philippines. Click here to know more about the weather.

VISA IN THE PHILIPPINES

Philippines is one of the easiest countries to get a Visa, you will have 30 days for free if you are including in this list of elegible countries. If you want to get a visa extension read this full blog post and you will see how easy it will be to stay for 2 months in the Philippines.

In my opinion, one month is not enough to visit the Philippines, read this post if you want to get visa extension in the Philippines. As a requirement they will ask you for a flight out ticket before you enter the Philippines.

INTERNET AND WIFI CONNECTION IN THE PHILIPPINES

If you are work online like us, the connection in the Philippines wasn´t the best. We can usually find stable internet connection in coffee shops and the data was around $1 for 1 GB which can last until 3 days. We had issues with internet in the Philippines a few times as we usually had in the Maldives.

If you go to carinderias, local places for food. Prices start at $1-2 USD per meal. What´s included in $2 meal in the Philippines? You can get rice, sauce and vegetables, chicken, pork, depending your order. Also there are many tropical fruits like mango, bananas that you can get between that price too.

There are not many entrance fees in the Philippines, you will find places that they charge. Entrance fees in Kawasan falls are less than $1 USD and you will enjoy an amazing time the whole day. But, there are few islands that will charge small fees as enviroment fee.

It will be your favorite because tours and Island Hoppings are awesome in the Philippines. you can spend 7-8 hours island hopping with a huge lunch included for $25 per tour joining a group. They also usually include masks if you do snorkeling. It means for $25 you will have an amazing experience, and tourguides in the Philippines will be always with a smile for you.

LOCAL TRANSPORTATION IN THE PHILIPPINES

Transportation is so cheap in the Philippines. In the cities there are jeepneys which cost 12 cents USD per ride. Buses short and long distances are so cheap in the Philippines, like one hour= 1 USD. It´s very affordable! You can ride a tricycle for short distances and prices will be around $1-2.

INTERNAL FLIGHTS/FERRIES

Ferries moving around the islands prices can go from $5-20 USD depending of the distance and speed of the ferries. Internal flights can be as cheap as $20 USD one way, there are cheap companies like Cebu Pacific where you can get great deals.

BUDGET TO TRAVEL IN THE PHILIPPINES PER DAY?

To conclude, you can spend $25-30 USD per day in the Philippines, sleeping, eating and transportation included. Notice that if you are traveling as a couple you can split the accommodation or if you are traveling with a friend. If you include entrance fee and island hopping you can make it $30-40 USD per day.
