HOW TO GET TO GENEVA

There are daily buses and trains going to Geneva from Annecy, Grenoble, Lausanne and from main of the places around like Lyon in France. I went during my Switzerland road trip from Annecy and it was less than 1 hour driving. If you want to drive from Switzerland in Geneva it will be around 1 hour to Lausanne.

There are many ways to explore this Geneva itinerary. You can go walking around Geneva or get public transportation for around 3€ a single bus ticket if you are visiting the lake. You can go by bicycle too and electric scooter since there are many ways for this.

There are meals in Geneva at local restaurants for as low as €20-30. Those who want to eat something a bit fancier can have a meal at a mid-range restaurant for around €40-60 or even less if you have someone to split the bill with. Dinner at a top restaurant in Geneva can go for €70-150.

There are all sorts of accommodations in Geneva. From hostels and B&Bs to apartments and hotels, you’re sure to find one that fits your budget. For example, staying at a hostel or booking a dorm bed goes for around €40. A room at a mid-range hotel or a nice apartment can cost around €100-150.

Luxury hotels in Geneva can charge €200 and higher. If you want to stay somewhere comfortable and safe minus the cost, you can always try AirBnB in Geneva. There are entire apartments that go for as low as €100.

The Jet d’Eau of Geneva is the most popular in the list of Geneva tourist spots. When you will go to Geneva Lake you will see anytime this big fountain that is the symbol in the city of Geneva.

Walking around Old Town is one of the best things to do in Geneva. You can reach almost everywhere by foot or if not you can do by bicycle. The city is small and quiet.

St. Pierre Cathedral cathedral was built as a Roman Catholic cathedral but became a Protestant Church and home for John Calvin one of the leaders of the Protestant Reformation.

Broken Chair is a sculpture in wood by Daniel Berset and it’s 12 metres (39 feet) high. Broken Chair is located in front of Palace of Nations, in Geneva. Broken Chair was one of my favorite Geneva tourist spots.

5. Cycling Around Geneva

Cycling around Geneva is the best way to move around. You can reach from city center to the United Nations and parks around in less than 20 minutes. One of my favorite things to do in Geneva and also for locals too.

6. United Nations

United Nations Office in Geneva is one of the four major offices of the United Nations which was originally constructed for the League of Nations between 1929 and 1938. It’s a must in the list of things to do in Geneva walking around this area.

7. Cruising Lake Geneva

Cruising Lake Geneva is another of the beautiful things to do in Geneva. If you do in the weekend can be little bit busy. But during weekdays there aren’t many people doing this activity. There are boat trips for an hour in front of the Tourist Office in Lake Geneva.

8. Treille Promenade

Treille Promenade is the largest bench in the world was built 1767. And you can see the views to the park. You will see locals going around for a walk or even having lunch or snacks.

9. Place du Bourg-de-Four

Place du Bourg-de-Four is a square with fountains, bars and restaurants. The facade of the Museum of Art and History is around Place du Bourg-de-Four and it’s full of life this area in Geneva.

10. Visit Parks in Geneva

Visiting Parks in Geneva is a great choice especially if you are traveling with kids. One of the most popular is Bastions Park perfect for walking around or grabbing some snacks to spend time there. You will see many locals around walking and with the bicycle too.

The Jardin Anglais, The Flower Clock, Parc de La Grange and Parc des Eaux-vives are other options for visiting parks in Geneva and even Geneva Botanical Garden with free entrance.

11. Bains des Pâquis

Bains des Pâquis is a perfect place to enjoy swimming in Geneva Lake during the day especially if you are traveling with kids. Bains des Pâquis entrance fee is 2€ for 16+ years old, 1€ for kids and under 6 years old is free entrance.

Geneva Victoria Hall is a concert hall located in Geneva city center. Geneva Victoria Hall was built in 1891–1894 by John Camoletti and dedicated to Queen Victoria. Geneva Victoria Hall is used for classical-music performances.

13. Day Trip to Lausanne

I loved Vineyard Terraces just right after Lausanne where you can get beautiful views of the Lake and the vineyards. If you wish trying local wine or buying you will find a lot of shops for this.

Annecy is one of the best road trips from Geneva. It will take less than 1 hour driving and the town has many things to do like enjoying bars and restaurants, cruising with a boat or relaxing around the lake.

16. DAY TRIP TO LYON

Lyon is one of the best road trips from Geneva if you like cities. Walking next to the river and old town is one of the best things to do. Apart from visiting bars and restaurants if you love gastronomy.

17. DAY TRIP TO CHAMBERY

Chambery is a small town with beautiful views to the mountain just one hour driving from Annecy. You can also relax in the lake outside the city for a swim. If you like bicycle there are many routes and paths between Grenoble and Chambery.

18. DAY TRIP TO CHAMONIX
