HOW TO GO TO CALAGUAS ISLAND

MANILA TO CALAGUAS BY BUS (CHEAPEST WAY)

If you want to go to Calaguas Island from Manila by bus. There are buses going from Manila to Calaguas. From Cubao in Aurora Terminal in Manila to Paracale. It costs 550 PHP per person with air conditioning we did with Superlines. There are also companies like DLTB, Philtranco going to Paracale and Daet. The bus ride takes around 10 hours at night time depending on the traffic leaving Manilka. We took the bus at 5 pm from Manila in Cubao Aurora Terminal and we got to Paracale at 3 am. Once in Paracale bus terminal to the port is only 1 kilometer distance. You can go walking since it’s so easy if you check in the map where is the port. During the day a tricycle a regular fare is 30 PHP and at night you can get around 50 PHP for the ride. Even they will ask for 100 PHP for one kilometer. You can wait for the boat departure in local carinderia around the port since they open early morning before 4 am. For our boat we chose Mang Boy who gave us the best fare but all of them are similar. We paid for the boat 4000 PHP which includes going to Calaguas Island and return to Pasacale. Finally, we added an island hopping around Calaguas Island next morning for extra 1000 PHP. So the boat cost as 5000 PHP total for one day and a half including overstay in the island (1500 PHP cottage extra). After the trip we can totally recommend to do the island hopping with Mang Boy who brought us to his home and allowed us to fresh up before our trip to Naga City. He explained to us how to get to Naga City and he organized the tricycle for us. You can contact Mang Boy 09065460683 let him know that you read about him from Ruben, Rachel and Han and he will be happy to hear. Anyway he is popular in town and people will tell you where is his place.

HOW TO GET FROM DAET TO PARACALE BY BUS

If you want to get to Paracale from Daet is a one-hour van ride for 60 PHP per person. Once in Daet if you want to go to Naga City. You have to ride a van or a bus prices are 100-150 PHP. The bus is cheaper than the bus but it takes 2 hours and a half. While the van can take 1 hour and a half to 2 hours with air conditioning. Another option is going to Daet from Manila by bus. But if you are planning to go from Daet to Pasacale to ride the boat to Calaguas Island at night will be only possible only by tricycle for around 300 PHP. The van costs 60 PHP and it takes less than an hour. From Daet you can head to Vinzons by jeepney 1 hour and 75 PHP to the fishport. There are also boatmen that can ride you to Calaguas Island prices are similar or little bit mroe expensive than Paracal

HOW TO GET FROM NAGA CITY TO PARACALE

If you want to get to Paracale from Naga City. Vans and buses are going to Naga City from Daet from SM Mall which is around 1 kilometer far from city center. Once in Daet you will have to ride a van to get to Paracale or a jeepney if you are planning to go to Calaguas Island via Vinzons fishport. Total travel time from Naga City to Paracale can be up to 3 hours by van. Around one hour Daet-Paracale. Almost 2 hours Naga City to Paracale. There is always waiting time until the van gets full. But the vans get full quickly! Prices for the ride Daet to Paracale 60 PHP per person. And 150 PHP person Naga City to Daet.

HOW TO GO FROM NAGA CITY TO BURIAS ISLAND

If you are going from Naga City to Pasacao heading to Burias Island the jeepney and van terminal is in LCC Mall in Naga City 2 kilometers distance from the Bus Terminal in SM Mall. The tricycle rides is 8 PHP per person first two kilometers. The jeepney and vans start at 5 30 am and it takes 30-40 minutes to reach Pasacao where you can get the boat going to Burias Island. The van costs 50 PHP per person and it takes less time than the jeepney which is cheaper. The first boat going to Burias Island is 7 am. Next is 10 am and last one 2 30 pm. HOW TO GO CALAGUAS BY PLANE (Manila to Calaguas via Naga)

How to go to Calaguas by plane. First you have to get a flight from Manila to Naga City. There are daily flights from Manila to Naga with Cebu Pacific. It takes an hour to get there and prices are around 2000-4000 PHP one way ticket. From Naga City to Paracale and Daet read above to know the information to reach Calaguas Island. From Naga City to Paracale or Vinzons where you can get the boat to Calaguas Island can take 3 hours counting the waiting time when changing the van in Daet.

Things to Know Before Visiting Calaguas Island

ENTRANCE FEE IN CALAGUAS ISLAND

Once in Calaguas Island you can get a cottage for 1500 PHP was the cheapest option that we could get. They are simple with electricity during the night so you can get a electric fan. There is an entrance fee to the beach 150 PHP per person only adults and our little one didn’t pay with 7 years old. Also another tourist environmental fee for 120 PHP each adult and kids for free. If you go on a budget you can put your tent in the beach or even rent in the resort for 500 PHP. They will ask you fees for pitching the tent. If you go for a day trip renting an open cottage costs 500 PHP for the whole day. There is not much to do in Calaguas Island apart from swimming, snorkeling and hiking around the mountains. There are entrance fee 20 PHP to start the hike and 20 PHP extra for getting to the peak where you can get data connection and phone signal in Calaguas Island.

ATMS IN CALAGUAS ISLAND

There are no ATMs in Paracale and Calaguas Island. So make sure that you are bringing cash enough. In Daet you will find ATMs and of course in Naga City if you are planning to stay in those destinations you will be able to get cash. Check here the exchange rate before your trip.

INTERNET AND ELECTRICITY IN CALAGUAS ISLAND

There is no phone signal and electricity so it means no internet connection in Calaguas Island. The only way to get phone signal and internet connection is hiking to the mountains. It will take around 20 minutes from the beach crossing the barangay and going up until you can get signal if you need. In Paracale you will find phone signal and data to connect online. WHERE TO STAY IN CALAGUAS ISLAND

There are a few resorts in Calaguas Beach. We decided to stay at Fantastic Beach Resort simple one for 1500 PHP the cottage. There is no electricity during the day but they turn on the generator at night. They provide an electric fan. You can also do camping in Calaguas Island for 500 PHP or luxury resorts around 4000 PHP per night. If you prefer booking in advance in Calaguas Island contact a boatman or a tour to organize for you. If you go in low season there is no need to book in advance. Happy travels
