They are simple with electricity during the night so you can get a electric fan. There is an entrance fee to the beach 150 PHP per person only adults and our little one didn’t pay with 7 years old. Also another tourist environmental fee for 120 PHP each adult and kids for free. If you go on a budget you can put your tent in the beach or even rent in the resort for 500 PHP. They will ask you fees for pitching the tent. If you go for a day trip renting an open cottage costs 500 PHP for the whole day. There is not much to do in Calaguas Island apart from swimming, snorkeling and hiking around the mountains. There are entrance fee 20 PHP to start the hike and 20 PHP extra for getting to the peak where you can get data connection and phone signal in Calaguas Island.

ATMs in Calaguas Island

There are no ATMs in Paracale and Calaguas Island. So make sure that you are bringing cash enough. In Daet you will find ATMs and of course in Naga City if you are planning to stay in those destinations you will be able to get cash. Check here the exchange rate before your trip.

Internet and Electricity in Calaguas Island

There is no phone signal and electricity so it means no internet connection in Calaguas Island. The only way to get phone signal and internet connection is hiking to the mountains. It will take around 20 minutes from the beach crossing the barangay and going up until you can get signal if you need. In Paracale you will find phone signal and data to connect online

Daily Budget in Calaguas Island

If you go for a day trip the best thing is buying all the food in Paracale and you can cook in the resort or you can buy food from the carinderia cooked already. And you will avoid the hassle in Calaguas Island. If you want to stay overnight in Calaguas Island prices are starting from 500 PHP for renting a tent. It can go lower if you are bringing your own tent. Prices for cottages are around 1500 PHP simple one with bathroom outside. For food the best is bringing your own food from Paracale if you are staying overnight. If you are looking for places to stay in Paracale and Daet before visiting Calaguas Island. Expect to pay higher if there are 20 people in the boat than 2-3 people. Since it was low season we just went ourselves in the boat for 4000 PHP. For us the best in Calaguas Island visiting off season was staying almost alone. Only two boats in the Calaguas Island at that time made us enjoy more the place. If you prefer party and crowded places Boracay Island will be better for you. And if you prefer to stay in contact with the nature hiking and camping Calaguas Island is your place. For us both of us are amazing and it’s hard to choose. It depends on what you prefer at that time peaceful place like Calaguas Island. 2 Days Calaguas Island Itinerary

It’s not easy to get to Calaguas Island and it will take long time. The first day maybe you will be able to explore around Calaguas Beach and especially enjoying the sunset.

Day 1 Calaguas Island Itinerary

For the first day in Calaguas Island. I would recommend enjoying paradise in Calaguas Beach. The water is so blue and transparent and it’s great walking around the white sand. Apart from spending your day in Calaguas Beach visiting Balagbag which is so close can be great to hike and take pictures around. If you do at sunset time can be amazing when it’s less hot. Don’t forget there is a beautiful spot for snorkeling near Balagbag Island.

You can go around this island hiking and you will see great views reminding us about Batanes. The entrance fee is 40 PHP per person. And there are places to stay overnight. They look great and the island is great for the sunset.

Day 2 Itinerary in Calaguas Island

For the day 2 in your itinerary in Calaguas Island you can start the day hiking the Tinaga Hills early morning when the weather is refreshing. Enjoying the sunrise and after a swim and breakfast you can do and island hopping visiting Pinanacuapan Island and Pinagcastillohan Sand bar. We did the island hopping on the way back to mainland since we only spent one night in Calaguas Beach.

It reminded us to Rolling Hills in Batanes. The hike is easy and it takes 20-30 minutes from Calaguas Beach to reach to the top. There are 20 PHP entrance fee at the beginning of the hike. And extra 20 PHP on the top of the Hill. The views are so rewarding and on the top is waiting for you phone signal and weak internet connection in case that you need. It’s the only place where we found phone signal in Calaguas Island during two days.

You will ride the boat for 20-30 minutes from Calaguas Beach. You make sure that you check the low tide to see the sand bar. Our boatmen brought us at 9 am since it was the perfect time to see the sand bar in Pinag Castillohan.

Pinanacuapan Island

Just in front of Calaguas Beach and Balagbag Maliit. You will see green mountains and it’s only 15 minutes boat ride from Calaguas Beach. There are plenty of options for the island hopping in Calaguas island. Apart from the places that we mentioned above. You can ask your boatmen where to go. The most popular islands and beaches around Calaguas are: Cumalasag, Pinagtakpan, Pinagtigasan Beach, Guintinua, Huag, Cagbalisay, Bendita, Sang-atan, Balagbag Malaki, Balagbag Maliit, Calangcawan Sur, Mantigbi Beach. Maculabo, Parola Island, Calalanay Island, Tabusao Island, Padoni Island, Flora Sandbar, Jaulo Island or Mercedes Group, etc.

More Days Calaguas Island Itinerary

If you want to disconnect and spend a few days in Calguas Island. You can do more island hopping, snorkeling, beach cleaning, watch the starts, playing sports in the beach, hiking and enjoying the amazing place for sunset and sunrise once again.

Beach Cleaning

We always make sure that we collect at least one bag of trash in the beach. Especially when traveling around the Philippines with the little Han who is always requesting. But we have to say that Calaguas Beach was pretty clean and since there were almost no people. One of the cleanest beach in the Philippines so far. One reason more to visit this paradise!

Playing Games And Beach Sports

Especially after sunset or in the morning if you are traveling a few of you. Making castles or whatever game with the white sand is fine especially if you are traveling with kids.

Watching the stars

If you sleep in a tent you will be lucky watching the stars. You don’t have always this great opportunity. We didn’t sleep in the tent this time. But we made sure that we gave a long walk at night around the beach before sleeping. The sky was great!

What to Bring to Calaguas Island

There are no food sellers in the island, only a couple of kiosks sending food and water. There is no drinkable water and there is no electricity. You can get water in the barangay or in the kiosks in the island. There is almost no phone signal in Calaguas Island, so the data is weak. You have to climb to get phone signal. There is no phone signal available from the beach. There is no electricity in Calaguas Island so bring your power bank to make sure you can charge your phone and devices. Bring a dry back for the island hopping and I would suggest plastic to cover your staff just in case is raining hard. Bring your sunblock. You can also pitch the tent along the beach and using the open cottages during the day in the resorts 500 PHP per day.
