For the Fajitas:
1 1/2 lbs flank or skirt steak (chicken breast or shrimp can also be used)
3 bell peppers (preferably different colors, sliced)
1 large onion (sliced)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Warm flour tortillas
For the Marinade:
1/4 cup lime juice (freshly squeezed)
1/3 cup water
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 tablespoon vinegar (white or apple cider)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
Fresh ground black pepper (to taste)
Optional Toppings:
Sour cream
Guacamole
Salsa
Shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack)
Fresh cilantro (chopped)
Lime wedges

Step By Step How to Make Fajitas

  1. Marinate the Meat

In a bowl, combine lime juice, water, olive oil, minced garlic, vinegar, soy sauce, sugar, salt, cumin, chili powder, red pepper flakes, and black pepper.

Whisk together until well mixed. Place the meat in a resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over it. Seal the bag and ensure the meat is evenly coated. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best flavor.

Slice the bell peppers and onion into thin strips.
