HOW TO GET FROM KATMANDU AIRPORT TO THAMEL IN DOWNTOWN
BY BUS FROM KATMANDU AIRPORT TO CITY CENTER (CHEAPEST WAY)
The cheapest way from Kathmandu airport to city center is by bus. The Sagha Yatayat Bus (Green Color) runs every 30-60 minutes from the airport.
The bus fare is 20 NPR which is $0.25 cents of USD depending on your final destination and it will take 30-60 minutes.
You will have to pay cash to the driver and you will have to ask where to stop for Thamel Area where most of the accommodation places are. You will have to walk 10 minutes since the bus coming from Kathmandu Airport isn’t entering to Thamel Area.
PREPAID TAXI FROM KATMANDU AIRPORT TO THAMEL
Make sure you get a prepaid taxi from Kathmandu Airport to city center for 1000 NPR which is around $7 USD. You will pay a fix rate and later you can feel free to tip to your taxi driver.
The travel time by taxi is around 15-20 minutes. The prices and travel time aren’t fixed outside the airport and it will depend on traffic and your final destination.
