Actually, Baguio was one of our destinations traveling together in the Philippines. We have been twice and we love it to visit. It’s not far from Angeles City and we can go anytime by bus.

Getting to Baguio by Van and Bus from Manila

There are two main ways how to commute from Manila to Baguio- through a bus or a private van. If you prefer going to Baguio in a bus. You can ride one from Cubao Bus Station and the 5-6 hours bus ride will cost you around PHP 485.

You can also ride the Executive Bus to go to Baguio. The 4-hour ride will cost you around PHP 800. Buses are leaving every hour from Cubao in Manila.

There are a few buses companies getting to Baguio from Manila: Genesis Transport: Cubao Dagupan Bus Lines, Partas, Victory Liner and Joy Bus. They are leaving from Cubao and Pasay and prices are quite similar. Expect to pay around PHP 500 for one way and around PHP 750 if you choose the first class.

Many of the restaurants and hotels in Baguio are cheap comparing to the rest of the country. A full meal in the city can go for as low as 60 PHP per person while a bottle of beer can be bought for around 50-70 PHP.

Restaurant meals can be bought for around 300-800 PHP for two people. If you only have 20 PHP in your pocket you can even buy street food with that in Baguio night market.

Transportation is also pretty cheap with jeepneys going all over town at a flat rate of 9 PHP. If you want to travel to Baguio from Manila, the ride will also be convenient and cheap at around 500 PHP.

There are also budget hotels transients costing for around 600-900 PHP in a promo while three-star establishments go for around 1,000-2,000 PHP, that’s only $19-38 USD! For those who want a more luxurious stay, you can check in at very nice hotels for around $50-120 USD.

1. Good Shepherd Place

Near Mines View Park, Good Shepherd Place is a good place to buy souvenirs. It’s a convenient location to buy gifts and things that will remind you of Baguio’s identity.

Just a tip, queues are often long because the place has been an established “pasalubong” store so many tourists come here to buy goodies to bring home to their loved ones. Some of the best-selling products are Ube jam, Peanut Brittle, and of course, strawberry jam.

2. Mines View Park

Get a chance to get dressed in full Cordillera regalia that are composed of bahag, shield and spear for men and tapis, vest for the ladies. Atop the Mines View Park, you could also see the beautiful view of the Benguet’s gold and copper mines and the Cordillera mountains. If lucky, you could also take a picture with the roaming St. Bernard Dog around the area. 

3. Burnham Park

There are a lot of things to do in Burnham Park as it is one of the most famous parks in the Philippines. Some of those are biking. You can rent bikes inside the park.  

You can have a picnic on the picnic grove, visit the orchidarium, try the skating rink, ride the rowboat and many more. This park has been consistently been in Baguio tourist spots.

4. Visit a Strawberry Farm

Strawberry farm lets you pick your strawberry, that’s why the experience is amazing. You could also buy packed strawberries. Actually, Rachel and I would rather want to pick ours though because we could eat it right after picking.

Don’t worry about picking unripe strawberries because it’s easy to find ripe ones. It may be more costly to buy strawberries here but the experience is worth it. Try going in December to May.

5. The Wright Park

Wanna try riding a horse? The Wright Park will definitely help you. It’s also near the Mansion. There are “pony boys” or guides that will help you ride your horse but it’s important to talk about their hourly charges. It’s really great for kids, too!

6. Night market in Baguio

Surely, a Baguio tourist spot because Harrison Road is popular for its night market opening after 9 PM. There are a lot of great deals being sold. Try to catch a few! Remember that this place gets crowded because of the prices that can be saved. If you’re up to the challenge, you can surely get one!

7. Bridal Veil Falls

Bridal Veil Falls is good for taking pictures. It’s worth noting that the falls could be not that great sometimes, so try to insert some other places in your itinerary after going here. Other than that, even just a side trip Bridal Veil Falls is still one of the beautiful Baguio tourist spots.

8. Lion’s Head

Lion’s Head is a great way to start your trip to Baguio. Many tourists take pictures here because it means their journey is about to begin. The Lion’s Head is located at Camp 6 and measures about 40 feet in height. The paint still remains vivid and still is strikingly amazing.

9. Mt. Pulag National Park

Hiking may be very exhausting but it’s always worth it when you get to the top. Mt. Pulag is just like that but it’ll give you a view that you won’t ever forget.

The experience hiking and going up the trail isn’t a hassle at all. A guide costs about PHP 600 per 5 people while the environmental fee costs about PHP 150. The temperature could get really cold up to 5 degree Celsius.

Baguio City Market is a haven for shoppers trying to find souvenirs, but it’s famous for its stalls selling coffee beans. There are a lot of things you could buy here like, fresh fruits and vegetables, “sundot kulangot”, peanut brittle, strawberry jams, longganisa, and many many more. It’s also located very near to Burnham Park, which is very convenient.

11. Laperal House

An art gallery could sometimes be a haunted house right? Definitely with Laperal House! Laperal White House hides more than we know. It attracts visitors because of its mysteries.

Sadly, it is now closed for the public. You could still take pictures outside though. It still remains one of the most visited Baguio tourist spots.

12. Botanical Garden

This park is different from Burnham park because there are native Igorots you could take pictures with. Also, it is very comfortable to stay here for relaxing and just take a pause from your trip. The park is absolutely free but you have to pay a small amount of 20 PHP for taking pictures with natives.

13. Pink Sisters’ Convent

Great place for solemnly relaxing, Pink Sisters Convent is a beautiful church in Baguio near Brentwood. People often come here to pray for a while and continue their trip. The church is very striking as it is different from its surroundings, very easy to find.

14. Valley of Colors (Stobosa Mural Arts)

Stobosa Mural Arts is an area filled with colorful hillside houses. You could take beautiful photos for your Instagram here but just remember to take good angles, ha! Laundries hanging may be added as an accessory. Be creative!

It’s just a few kilometers from city center. You have to get a jeepney on the way to Trinidad an stop in Valley of Colors.

15. Tam-Awan Village

Located in Pinsao Proper, this village resonates to tourists that love art. The village has seven Ifugao huts and two Kalinga Houses. It’s a great way to immerse yourself on Baguio’s tribal culture. Touring around won’t take you long, two hours would be the maximum and you’re done. 

16. Ben Cab Museum

Take your time finishing all of the museum’s displays and just relax. Ben Cab museum will surely teach you how to appreciate art. It’s instinctive once you got the feeling. And again, art with Baguio’s vibes feel really different. It’s calming, peaceful and magical. Yes, you’ll find spots that are instagrammable!

17. Lourdes Grotto

Lourdes Grotto is another place for relaxing and possibly soul searching, so it’s in our Baguio tourist spots list. You only need to trek 252 steps to get to the top and see the beautiful view of Baguio City.

There is also a statue of the Virgin Mary on the top. Visitors light up a candle upon getting in to the top as well and offer their prayers.

18. Emilio F. Aguinaldo Museum

Emilio F. Aguinaldo Museum is a museum that unlike other museums. Tourists love it because it is not boring like other museums. The staff are engaging and they will teach you a lot about Philippine history.

Some displays include the first Philippine Flag (may turn to ashes soon), uniforms, coins, documents, and many more.

19. Atonement Cathedral

This cathedral is quite popular for locals, especially on Sunday. However, the place is very serene and calm. If you want to take a break from your itinerary and have a self-reflection time or pray, then go here. The church is near the Upper Session Road, you might want to head there next.

20. Tree Top Adventure

Not for the faint-hearted, Tree Top adventure has something for adrenaline chasers. From canopy riding, ziplines, tree drops and many more. You’ll surely find a package that will fit you.

Safety is not an issue. The staff are accommodating and friendly, they’ll make you feel really secure. This place is adventure-packed so it’s one of the Baguio tourist spots that you shouldn’t miss.

21. Camp John Hay

Camp John Hay is a famous tourist attraction in Baguio because of the variety of activities you could try. There are adrenaline-packed activities like riding zip lines and harnessed free falls. One activity named yellow trail isn’t adrenaline-packed but it will make you calmly fall in love with nature more as you embark on an easy forest trail.

You could also try visiting the funny, witty, but eye-opening Cemetery of Negativism. Hopefully, you could bury some of yours there as well.

22. Museo Kordilyera – UP Baguio Ethnographic Museum

Unlike other museums, the ambiance itself is inviting and beautiful. It’s very informational. Also, it is inside UP Baguio so expect that you’ll learn a thing or two that’ll remain to you after you exit the museum. Most importantly, it is super IG-worthy.

23. Baguio Museum

Located near SM Baguio, Baguio Museum may be old but it still has important artifacts and informational content that will tell you the story of Baguio. For educational purposes, this is still topnotch. Try to add it to your itinerary to better appreciate Baguio’s development. You’d only need less than a dollar to get in.

24. Ifugao Woodcarvers’ Village

Ifugao Woodcarvers’ Village is a great side trip going to Ben Cab Museum not because it is bad but because roaming around here would only take about an hour. The great thing about this place is that they really have some good wood carvings that you could buy and take home as souvenirs.

25. Explore Session Road

Popular for its nightlife, session road is a long road in the central business district of Baguio. There are a lot of shops around the area, some of which are already common. However, adding the Baguio vibes feels would be much different. 

26. Casa Vallejo Hotel

Amazing for its value and located in Upper Session Road, Casa Vallejo Hotel is a hotel that withstood 100 years. It is very near SM Baguio and to Burnham Park. The accommodation is also very relaxing as the interior is a combination of historical and modern style.

27. Mount Cloud

Mount Cloud is an independent bookshop that features mostly local authors and some international authors. They have some very good eye-opening books for history but they also have other genres available. The place might be small but is still cozy. Go visit and grab a book that will catch your attention, you will surely buy one.

28. Kennon Road

Kennon Road remains the best road going to Baguio for the following reasons. First, it the fastest route. Second, you’ll never have the views of Kennon Road on other routes. Third, it’s really exciting to drive on this road. However, the biggest drawback is Kennon Road is a dangerous road to drive. Be safe!

29. Diplomat Hotel

Diplomat Hotel is known in Baguio for one reason, they said it is haunted. If you’re interested in paranormal activities it is essential that you visit this hotel. You might feel eerie but the scenery around remains picturesque. 

30. The Mansion

Who says Presidents could endure Philippines summer heat? The Mansion is the official place for the President of the Philippines for summer, that’s why it’s conveniently located in the summer capital of the Philippines. Taking pictures in front of the Mansion is allowed but the place is strictly and highly guarded.

It is very near to Burnham Park and Session Road so it’s a hotel to consider booking if you’re thinking on where to stay in Baguio. Its location is the most attractive feature of the hotel, according to travelers,  but its services have its own merits, too. Some of which include, 24-hour front desk, luggage service, and wake up service.

They also have beautiful blackout curtains surely good for those people trying to have a better sleep after good day travel. Interestingly, they also have air-conditioned in their rooms, unlike the hotels we’ve mentioned earlier. A night in their Deluxe Room costs about 32 USD per 2 people. Where to eat in Baguio

Street food in Night Market

Various street food are set up in the Night Market. You could see a lot of locals eating a lot of street food with lots of varieties. Take your time to taste each variety so you’d know which one you really love. I recommend “kwek-kwek” or battered quail eggs.

Baguio Craft Brewery

Being the first and only craft brewery with freshly-brewed beer, Baguio Craft Brewery remains a local favorite. Even if you’re new to drinking, it’s easy to get used to it here. Their beer might be heavy but it suits Baguio’s weather perfectly.

Farmer’s Daughter Restaurant

Farmer’s Daughter Restaurant has really good food on their menu. Locals often go back here again once they’ve tasted the restaurant’s dishes. People call this the original or the authentic highlander menu. They really do their food exceedingly well for its price.

Festivals in Baguio

Festivals could be boring, admit it. However, Panagbenga is really the opposite. Aside from the Baguio tourist spots or places we mentioned above, you should also not miss Panagbenga Festival! The whole celebration is just exploding with colors.

It’s very beautiful. Baguio’s people are really celebrating. This festival is about the celebration for the season of flowers blooming. The festival starts in February, and it is celebrated for the whole month.
