How to get from Male to Omadhoo Island by Speedboat

If you want to get from Male to Omadhoo Island by speed boat costs $25 per person per way. It will take 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the island. The speed boat leaves Male 4 pm everyday from the ferry port except Fridays remember is a public holiday in Maldives).

The schedule can be changed. And the best way is to contact you guesthouse in Omadhoo Island and they will organize for you.

We took the speed boat from Omadhoo Island to Male ferry port. It was leaving at 7 am and 10 am. There is wifi in the boat.

But at the time that we rode the speed boat it was raining and windy and the trip was a little bit hard. You will get to the jetty port and from there you will have to ride another boat if you are heading to the airport in Male.

How to get to Omadhoo Island by Public Boat

If you want to get from Male to Omadhoo Island by public ferry will cost you less than $4 per person 53 Rufiyaas per way. It will take 5 hours to reach Omadhoo Island from Male.

It will stop in one island before. We chose this option and it was fine. Actually the way was calm and you can make comfortable in the ferry laying down if you like since there is enough space.

The public ferry leaves from Male to Omadhoo at 9 am on Saturday, Monday and Wednesday. If you aren’t getting the ferry in these days you will have to catch the speed boat.

The public ferry leaves from Omadhoo to Male at 10 am on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. If you aren’t leaving on these days you will have to leave with the speed boat as we did from Omadhoo Island to Male.

How to get to Villingili Ferry Terminal

Apart from taxi you can go by bus which costs $1.5 USD. You can also go by ferry less than $1 USD to the jetty port in Male. And from Male jetty port you can walk 15 minutes walking distance if you aren’t bringing so much luggage. Or you can just grab a taxi that will cost you $3 USD.

Where to Stay in Omadhoo Island

Our choice was Nemo Inn running for Moosa and his brothers. They are really nice and they took care of us. They organize day trips, they cook Western and local food.

They will help you with your next destination book your speed boat and let you know the schedule.

Nemo Inn has 4-5 rooms available. The balcony where you will have your meals have nice views. And it’s located close to the port and just 5 minutes walking distance of the bikini beach.
