HOW TO GET FROM MADRID AIRPORT TO AVILA
MADRID AIRPORT TO AVILA BY BUS (CHEAPEST WAY FROM MADRID TO AVILA)
If you want to the cheapest way from Madrid Barajas airport to Avila by Jimenez Dorado direct bus. There is only one daily bus if not you will have to get the metro from the airport until Mendez Alvaro Metro Station where you can get the bus going to Avila Bus Terminal too.
DIRECT BUS JIMENEZ DORADO MADRID AIRPORT TO AVILA

You can also book online with Jimenez Dorado a direct bus from Madrid airport to Avila. The buses are leaving a few times per day from Terminal 1 at Madrid Barajas airport.
The bus fare is around €10 for one-way ticket and the travel time is around 1 hour and 50 minutes. Avila Bus Station is located in city center. There are many things to do in Avila from sightseeing to food to try.
The main problem is there is only one daily bus leaving from Madrid Barajas airport at 3 pm! If you are outside that schedule you will have to go to Estacion Sur Bus Terminal in Madrid to get a bus. Or to Chamartin Train Station to get the train.
METRO FROM MADRID AIRPORT TO MENDEZ ALVARO

There are two ways to go by metro from Madrid airport to Mendez Alvaro Metro Station. One of them is from the airport’s Terminals 1, 2 and 3, and the other option is from Terminal 4. You will have to go until Nuevos Ministerios Line 8 and transfer Metro Line 6 until Mendez Alvaro Metro Station. The total travel time can be 1 hour and 15 minutes.
If you want to use Madrid’s metro, the first thing you have to do is buy a metro card to move around Madrid. The card costs €3 and you can buy them from metro machines with cash or credit card.

Once you buy your card, you then have to add credits to the card to go around the city center or other destinations in Madrid that you are planning to visit. Aside from the initial €3 for the metro card, €3 will be added for your fare from Madrid airport to Moncloa in Madrid city center along with the extra €2 to go around Madrid.
If you want to get to Madrid from the airport using the metro, it will cost you €8. But you will be able to use the metro card while visiting Madrid adding more credits. The metro starts at 6 am until 1 30 am.
You can check the stations and schedules on Metro de Madrid’s website. Remember the total price is €8 for one-way ticket. It will be worth it as I mentioned if you will use the Madrid Metro card in the city next days. Anyway you should purchase a €3 metro card and top up.
Maybe you can find your Metro Card for free in information if they are promoting Metro campaigns (but don’t trust on this).
If you want to get from Madrid airport to Avila by bus. You can take a bus from Madrid’s Estacion Sur Bus Station. You can buy the bus ticket in Estacion Sur Bus station in the ticket machines with cash or credit card.
You can also book online with Jimenez Dorado. One way ticket will cost you €8. The bus ride will last 1 hour and 20 minutes. Buses start leaving at 6 55 am and the last bus is around 9 pm.
The total bus fare is around €14 for one way ticket and the total travel time can be around 2 hours and 30 minutes of metro from Mendez Alvaro Metro Station plus bus to Avila.

TAXI ADOLFO SUAREZ MADRID BARAJAS AIRPORT TO AVILA

As you guys know, riding a taxi is for sure the most comfortable way to get from Madrid airport to Avila. The price is around €150-160 by taxi and it will take around 1 hour and 20 minutes from Barajas airport to Avila.

Here’s a fun fact: I was actually a taxi driver in Madrid (see the picture above) before I started traveling the world and meeting Rachel. This was my job until we started our travel blog in November 2015. Would you believe that? Cool, right?

TRAIN MADRID AIRPORT TO AVILA (BEST WAY)

If you want to go from Madrid airport to Avila by train. You will have to go first to Chamartín Train Station. Going by Renfe Cercanías of Madrid is a great choice especially if you are arriving in Terminal 4 of the airport. The journey from the airport to Chamartín can last 30 minutes on Train Cercanías.

The ticket costs €2.60 (last time I did was July 2020 and still same price) to and from the city center and €0.50 cents for the card that you can use in the future if you stay in Madrid.
If you are coming from AVE (High-Speed Train) the train ticket will be free since it’s included in the High-Speed Train. The train runs every 15-20 minutes, with the first train departing at around 6 AM and the last train leaving at 11 PM.
If you want to get from Madrid airport to Avila by train. The train leaves from Chamartín train station and one-way costs around €10 (it can get cheaper or more expensive).
The travel time from Chamartín train Station to Avila is 1 hour and 50 minutes. You can also get the train at Principe Pio Metro Station in Madrid city center and it will cost €13 the train ticket.

The total fare from Madrid Barajas airport to Avila is around €13 and it can take around 2 hours and 30 minutes depending on the waiting time and your final destination in Avila.

In my opinion quality price I would say the best way from Madrid airport to Avila city center is by direct bus from the airport with Jimenez Dorado for €10 and the travel time is around 1 hour and 50 minutes.
You can from Madrid airport to Avila by train is around €14 and the travel time is 1 hour and 50 minutes from Madrid Chamartin. You can also get a bus from Madrid to Avila from Estacion Sur Bus Terminal in Madrid for €8 and the travel time will be around 1 hour and 20 minutes.
