BEST TIME TO VISIT PERU

Peru actually has two very distinct seasons. The dry and the wet season. The dry season, which is from May to October, is the peak season or most touristic season of travel in Peru. This season gets the driest mornings and daytime weather, but gets incredibly cold at night.

Also known as the winter time in Peru, or in South America. July and August get the most visitors in Peru, with July 28 as a National Holiday in the country, when you’ll get a lot of visitors, local and foreign, moving at the same time.

If you’re planning to do the Inca trail, and visit Machu Picchu, and go to the higher elevated parts of Peru (and frankly, these are some of the best reasons to come to the country), you’ll have to pack for the cold weather, and be ready for the no. of tourists coming in the country.

For some people, the wet season will be the best time to visit. This is a time when prices can be lower, even with airlines and hotel. It’s considered a warmer time in Peru, however, this is actually the period in Peru that gets a lot of rain. January and February are the rainiest months in the country. So you’ll have to keep those in mind when you’re traveling during this time. If you want lower prices, and have more time, and possibly more days to play around with, in case it’s always raining, and can reschedule trips and tours, this can be an option for you.
