WHERE TO STAY IN NEIVA
We chose Backpackers Neiva to stay in Neiva and it was a great choice. You will have a complete breakfast with fruits and coffee included. High-speed internet was our favorite and for our little Han his favorite was the jacuzzi! A jacuzzi in a backpacker hostel? Yeah actually there are two of them!
The most of the people are staying in the hostel is joining to the Tatacoa desert day trip organized by Fabian the owner of Backpackers Neiva Hostel. The tour is so complete and it will be an amazing experience visiting Tatacoa desert with a guide, a sustainable tour where also you will get an amazing experience and of course amazing pictures.

TATACOA DESERT DAY TOUR AND THINGS TO DO IN TATACOA DESERT
There are many things to do in Tatacoa Desert. Since visiting the Red Desert, Grey Desert. swimming in the pool, hiking, eating local snacks and juices to watch the sunset and visitng the Astronomy Museum.
RED DESERT
The Red Desert was our favorite at Tatacoa Desert for taking pictures and watching the sunset. You will spot rock formations and Carcavas. If you love taking pictures is an amazing place and is so incredible to walk around this area.
POOL AT TATACOA DESERT
It was incredible to swim at Tatacoa Desert pool. It’s a perfect place to refresh since the weather is really hot. The entrance fee Tatacoa Desert swimming pool is 8K COP ($2 USD) for adults and 5K COP ($1 USD) for kids.
GREY DESERT
Hiking around the Grey Desert part was one of our activities that we ended up refreshing ourselves in the pool. There are a few hikes 1-2 hours and we recommend you to go with a local guide.
ASTRONOMY TATACOA DESERT
Astronomy at Tatacoa Desert was so incredible and we learned a lot. You can see the stars and the moon with long explanations about everything. Astronomy entrance in Tatacoa Desert is 10K COP for adults which is $2.5 USD.
HIKING AT TATACOA DESERT
You will be able to spot captus during your hike at Tatacoa Desert. There are some fruits coming from the captus and even juices. The hikes were interesting and our tour was included lunch in a local homestay.
BEST TIME TO VISIT IN NEIVA
You can go to Neiva Huila any time of the year. The months of December to February are the best time to visit Colombia because is the sunniest also the peak season. October to November is the months ideal for those working with a budget because it is considered the low season.
