How to get from Don Muang Airport to Bangkok City Center

Don Mueang Airport also called Don Muang Airport and DMK is popular if you are taking budget Airlines like Air Asia traveling around neighbor countries like Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar. Rachel was coming from Yangon after we spent a couple of weeks traveling around Myanmar. The airport is only 15 kilometers far from the Sky Train. Once in the Sky Train can be around 10 extra kilometers to make a total of 25 kilometers distance. From Don Muang to Suvarnabhumi Airport the distance is 45 kilometers and it will take almost one hour to get there with the free shuttle between Don Muang Airport to Bangkok Airport.

Don Muang Airport to City Center (DMK to BKK) by Bus

If you want to get from Don Muang Airport to City by bus. There is a direct bus from Don Mueang Airport and stopping in Khao San Road. It takes 40 minutes to one hour depending on the traffic. The price is 150-170 Baht and you will find them in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Limo Bus is the name of the company. You can click here to buy your tickets and check schedule with 12 Go. Personally we find this option very easy and comfortable but it can be pricey if you go on a budget. That’s why we will keep telling you more options.

Cheapest Way From Don Mueang Airport to Bangkok (DMK to BKK)

The cheapest way to get from Don Muang airport to Bangkok city center is by bus. You will have to go to BTS Station and get the A2 bus going to Mo Chit which is North part from Khao San Road. You have to get the bus at Terminal 1 in the exit 6. Terminal 2 exit 12 and 14. It will cost you 30 Baht the bus to Mo Chit. Once in Mo Chit look for the bus number 3 going to Khao San Road.

Bus Schedule Don Muang Airport to City

The bus runs every 30 minutes from 8 30 am until 11 30 pm. The travel time from DMK to Mochit will be around 30-45 minutes depending on the traffic. It will cost you 12 Baht. So total price will be 42 Baht which means $1.5 USD. And the bus from the airport to Mo Chit can take around one hour plus 40 minutes to one hour going from Mo Chit to Khao San Road. Things are changing fast and transportation works better every time. There are also buses going to Khao San Road direct every 30 minutes for only 50 Baht.

Bus Dong Muang to Bangkok Plus Sky Train

You can take the same bus mentioned above going to Mochit where you can transfer to the Sky Train. The bus fare DMK Airport to BKK is 30 Bath and it’s required to pay with cash. Once you are in the Sky Train to Bangkok city center. The price is 30-60 Bath depending where are you going. You can pay by cash or card that will not be a problem. You can see there are a few options I did by myself two of them. First time I got Limo Bus going to Khao San Road. The second time I went to Mo Chit and took a second bus to Khao San Road. Next time I will take the direct bus from the airport to Khao San Road.

It can be the easiest and most comfortable way. Also the most expensive. You have to keep the line and just show your address to the taxi driver. Make sure the driver is turning on the taximeter. The trip will cost you around 600-800 Baht total. Since you have to pay 50 Baht extra airport taxi tax and 120 Baht toll roads to add to the taximeter. Make sure the taxi driver understands the address that you are going in Khao San Road or if you are going to another area in Bangkok! Also make sure that you ride an official taxi heading to the official taxi point. And don’t trust anyone offering their services.
