Step By Step How to Make Martini
Chill Your Glass
Place a martini glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill it while you prepare the cocktail.
Prepare the Ingredients
Pour the gin or vodka and dry vermouth into a mixing glass filled with ice.
Mix the Cocktail
Stir the mixture well for about 30 seconds until it is well chilled. (Alternatively, you can shake it if you prefer a slightly more diluted drink with tiny ice shards.)
Strain and Serve
Empty the ice water from the martini glass if you used it to chill the glass. Strain the mixture into the chilled martini glass.
Garnish
Garnish with a lemon twist or a couple of olives, depending on your preference. For a lemon twist, twist the lemon peel over the drink to release its oils before dropping it in.
Tips To Make Martini
Use high-quality gin or vodka and dry vermouth. The quality of the ingredients will significantly affect the taste of the Martini. Ensure the glass and all ingredients are well-chilled to keep the drink refreshing.
Stirring with ice ensures the drink is cold without over-diluting it. Shaking adds a bit more dilution and aeration, which some people prefer.
Adjust the vermouth to suit your taste. A dry Martini has less vermouth, while a wet Martini has more.
The garnish is not just for looks; it adds flavor and aroma to the drink. Choose a lemon twist for a citrus note or olives for a briny touch.
