If following google maps you need to avoid the begining section with rt 713 off of rt 3 it is nearly impassable in a car. we had a toyota corolla rental and nearly got stranded on the mountain when the car wouldnt go up the very steep rocky hill, luckily there was a local who showed us the way back and to get on a the good section of 713.
