Bus From Medellin Airport to City Center (Cheapest Way)
The buses are the cheapest way from Medellin airport to city center. There is no metro in Medellin airport going to the city. The bus fare from Medellin airport to city center is 13K COP which is $3 USD. And you will pay the driver in cash.
ComBuses airport bus is running every 15 minutes from the airport to Sandiego Mall starting from 4 am to 10 pm. You will have to go outside the airport in gates: 2A and 2B to get the bus.
MEDELLIN AIRPORT TO NUTIBARA AND MEDELLIN AIRPORT TO SANDIEGO MALL
The travel time from Medellin airport to city center by bus to Sandiego Mall from the airport is 45 minutes. The bus from the airport to Hotel Nutibara is 60 minutes. You can stop at Nutibara Hotel where you can get the metro, bus or taxi or go walking distance to your accommodation.
Hotel Nutibara To Sandiego Mall to El Poblado
Once you are getting to your destination by bus. Maybe you will have to get the metro, public bus or taxi if you don’t want to walk. Hotel Nutibara to Sandiego Mall has 3 kilometers distance.
From Sandiego Mall 4 kilometers to El Poblado. Sandiego Mall has a 6-minute walk to Exposiciones metro station. If you move with In Driver or taxi prices can go 8000-10000 COP to your final destination depending on the distance in Medellin city center.
Metro Map in Medellin
Metro in Medellin has the Line A North to South. The Line B Center to West. And the Tram Line T from the Center to East. You can also take Medellin Metro Cable Car to have a great views of the city.
The metro fare in Medellin is 3000 COP for one way and you will have to get the Civica Eventual Metro Card. The metro opening hours in Medellin is from 4 30 am to 11 pm.
Cívica Eventual
You will have to buy Cívica Eventual Metro Card costing 6000 COP to move around the metro in Medellin. One way costs by public transportation in Medellin costs 3000 COP per person.
If you take the Cable car you will have to pay 3000 COP and the Civica Eventual Metro Card for 6000 COP (you can use it for a few people topping up as we used for the three of us in Medellin).
Taxi/In Driver, Cabify, Didi And Uber From Medellin Airport to Medellin City Center
If you want to go from Medellin airport to city center by taxi is the most comfortable way. There are White taxis and Yellow taxis. The taxi fare with the white taxi is around $25 USD if you use the new route with the toll road.
Colectivos (Shared Taxi) From Medellin Airport To Downtown
Colectivos are shared white taxis. You will share the taxi with 4 other passengers and the fare is 20K COP which is around $5 USD per person. A great option if you are traveling alone or with someone else and you want the comfort of the taxi but save a few dollars.
The final destination of the shared taxi is Sandiego Mall where you can get a bus, metro or taxi. Sandiego Mall is 3 kilometers walking distance to Plaza Botero and 5 minutes walking distance from Exposiciones Metro station.
BEST WAY FROM MEDELLIN AIRPORT TO MEDELLIN CITY CENTER
The best way from Medellin airport to city center is by bus for $3 USD and 45 minutes travel time if you are on a budget and traveling alone. Once in Sandiego Mall you can go walking distance, metro, bus or taxi depending on how far is your accommodation.
If you wish more comfort you can get a shared transfer with Bookaway from Medellin airport to downtown for $15 USD one person or $27 USD for two people.
WHAT TO SEE IN MEDELLIN
There is a lot what to see in Medellin and we choose SAG Tour Medellin to guide us around Medellin. Since walking around Plaza Botero watching the sculptures, local markets where you can find everything around El Hueco to try local food in the restaurants.
You can also experience the Metro Cable Car around Medellin and visiting Comuna 13 one of the most popular places in Medellin. El Poblado is full of coffee shops and restaurants if you are looking for that vibe.
PLAZA BOTERO
Plaza Botero is located in city center and you will be able to see Fernando Botero sculptures. There are more than 20 different ones around the park. You can go walking distance from Plaza Botero to visit markets, churches and local restaurants.
CABLE CAR AROUND MEDELLIN
A Cable Car ride is a must in Medellin. You will have to get a single Metro ticket for 3000 COP which is less than $1 USD and you will enjoy incredible views.
COMUNA 13
Comuna 13 is the most popular place for tourists if you love street art and graffitis. You can ride the electric stairs around this colorful neighborhood.
