The cheapest way from Athens airport to city center is by bus. The Airport Bus is running every 40-60 minutes 24/7.

The bus fare is €6 one way ticket for adults and €3 for children (up to 6 years old is free of charge). You can buy the tickets in the vending machine between Exit 4 and 5 and all the buses there in front of Sofitel Hotel at the airport.

The travel time is around 50-90 minutes depending on your final destination at city center. You can get the Airport Bus Athens outside the airport.

BUSES X93

Bus Χ93 is going from Athens airport to Kifissos KTEL Bus Station. The travel time will take 65 minutes and the option is perfect if you want to stay close to the Bus Station to take a bus to another destination in Greece.

BUSES X95

The Bus X95 going from Athens airport to Syntagma which near Acropolis is the most popular route. The Bus X95 is running every 20 minutes 24/7 and it will take around 60 minutes. You will find Bus X95 between Exit 4 and 5. You can also connect with Metro 2 and 3 Lines.

BUSES X96

The Bus Χ96 going from Athens airport to Piraeus. It’s the best option if you are going to Santorini or Mykonos as we did. They canceled our ferry ticket and we had to go back to the airport that’s why I can write this blog post since we took almost all the options in a few days in Athens.

You can also connect with Metro 1 Line. It will take around 90 minutes long way but comfortable and affordable price.

The Bus Χ97 is going from the airport to Eliniko Metro Station and you can connect with Metro Line 2. The total travel time is 45 minutes is a great choice if you are taking the metro or staying around this area.

BY METRO FROM ATHENS AIRPORT TO CITY CENTER (BEST WAY)

The best way from Athens airport to city center is by metro. The metro is running every 10-25 minutes from 6 30 am to 11 30 pm.

It will take around 30-40 minutes depending on your final destination. You can get to Metro Line 3 Athens International Airport – Aghia Marina. The last stop is Athens Central Train Station (Larissis Station) a great choice if you are going there.

The metro fare is €10 per person one way valid for 90 minutes which enough time for getting to your destination. The main problem with the metro from Athens airport you will have to walk 10 minutes and going outside but it’s easy to find following the signs.
