COLOMBO AIRPORT TO NEGOMBO

If you are getting to Sri Lanka at Colombo International Airport (Bandaranaike International Airport) you will have a few options to get from Colombo airport to Negombo by bus, taxi, Grab and private transportation.

Tuk Tuk From Colombo Airport To Negombo

You can get a tuk-tuk from Colombo airport to Negombo. You will have to go outside the airport since they aren’t allowed to stop inside. It will take 20 minutes to drive for 8 kilometers.

The tuk-tuk fare is around 600-700 LKR which is $3-4 USD to reach Negombo Bus Terminal. And 800-900 LKR which is $4-5 USD.

If you want to get to the beach area in Negombo where most of the accommodation is you will have to take a local bus 4-5 kilometers far from Negombo Bus Terminal. It can be quite fast and comfortable if you are traveling with 2 people.

BUS FROM COLOMBO AIRPORT TO NEGOMBO

The bus from Colombo airport to Negombo at 5 30 am until 7 pm and it’s running every 30-45 minutes. You will have to walk 1 kilometer until Katunayake Bus Stop or you can get the Free Shuttle from the airport to the Bus Terminal.

The bus fare from Colombo Airport to Negombo is 70 LKR which is less than $1 USD. And it will take around 45 minutes depending on the traffic. The bus will stop at the Negombo Bus Station. If you are going from Negombo Bus Station to the beach area you will have to ride another local bus 50 LKR (25 cents of USD) or a tuk-tuk for 250 LKR which is $1-2 USD.

I don’t recommend this option if you are bringing so much luggage only if you are traveling alone. Since the ride is so long until the beach area and you will have to commute another bus. When you can get a tuk-tuk by Pick Me or outside the airport for $3-4 USD.

TAXI FROM COLOMBO AIRPORT TO NEGOMBO

You can get a taxi from Colombo airport to Negombo for 1500 LKR which is around $8-10 USD you can book online. Just make sure you agree on the price and you have good negotiation skills making clear your final destination.

I personally wouldn’t recommend going by taxi from Sri Lanka airport since they always try to overcharge. I would go by Pick Me or Uber since I find it easier. It will take 20 minutes from Bandaranaike International Airport to Negombo to drive 12 kilometers to the beach area.

UBER AND PICK ME FROM COLOMBO AIRPORT TO NEGOMBO

You can use Uber and Pick Me for transportation from Colombo Airport to Negombo. These apps are so useful and they are usually cheaper than a taxi and you will know the exact price to your final destination with no overcharge. The fare from Colombo airport to Negombo can be around 600 LKR which is around $3 USD.

Pick Me is so popular between locals in Sri Lanka because it has better rates than Uber. It will take 20 minutes to get to Negombo Beach. You can ask for a ride to the airport and you don’t have to go outside like in other countries Uber it’s not allowed to pick inside the airport passengers.
