1. SAN BLAS ISLANDS

San Blas Islands is an archipelago of 378 beautiful islands in Northwest Panama, facing the Caribbean Sea. This island is surrounded by beautiful reefs, and amazing blue water. Most of the islands of San Blas do not have inhabitants, apart from the large ones: Aguja Island, Guanidup Island, Chichimei, Yandup Island and El Porvenir.

Inhabitants of San Blas are called Kuna’s. If you have a chance to shoot from above with a drone, do it (but definitely will need permission from the locals).

San Blas is definitely an incredible island shot to get (we love taking photos when we travel), so if you’re looking to create beautiful island photos as well (or other travel photos for that matter), a good photo editor can make wonders!

2. BOCAS DEL TORO

Bocas Del Toro which means “Bull’s river mouths” in Spanish, is one of Panama’s most beautiful and prominent provinces. Bocas Del Toro is comprised of The Bocas Del Toro Archipelago, Bahía Almirante (Almirante Bay), Chiriquí Lagoon, and other mainland islands.

Bocas Del Toro has two national parks:  Isla Bastimentos National Marine Park and La Amistad International Park.

3. BOQUETE

Boquete is mostly known as an expat place in Panama, known for its small town, easy-going life. It’s one of Panama’s popular mountain regions, which gets a much cooler climate in Panama. Here, you’ll see Volcán Barú, Panama’s only sleeping volcano. David, Panama’s third largest city is located in Boquete, only a 40-minute drive away, and is the area’s commercial hub.

Boquete is also only an hour’s drive away from the Gulf of Chiriqui, a beautiful beach. If you’re looking to visit Panama and find an area close to the beach, with cooler temperatures, full of greenery and mountain areas, you should definitely visit this place.

4. SANTA FE

If you’re looking for an off the beaten path when in Panama, Santa Fe is the destination for you. Visit the Coast, the forest, farms, and the village. Sante Fe is one of Panama’s oldest communities. The historic trail of Chilagre starts from the Santa Maria river until the Santa Fe Natonal Park to the abandoned mines.

Santa Fe just gives an authentic village feel, and just trickles the adventurous in you because of its location in the highlands of Panama. To the North, it is surrounded by the rainforest of Santa Fe National Park. To the West, you get the indigenous Ngabe lands. While in the surrounding hills you get a lot of family owned coffee farms. Now that’s something we definitely would love to visit in Panama!

5. COIBA

Coiba or Isla Coiba is one of Panama’s National Parks, and a UNESCO World heritage Site. To some, it is known as Central America’s Galapagos because of the rich diversity of sea creatures and rare species. Here in Coiba you will find the second-largest coral reef in the eastern Pacific – the Bahía Damas.

6. EL VALLE DE ANTON

El Valle De Anton, also known as El Valle, or Anton’s Valley is in Coclé, Panama. If you’re into more green mountains and beautiful landscapes, you can’t go wrong with a visit to El Valle de Anton. You’ll find this place in the mountain side of the Riviera Pacifica, just in the crater of one of Panama’s extinct volcanoes.

If you like hiking, a pro at it, or even a beginner, this area has a lot of beautiful trails. A beautiful sunrise can be seen in the popular La India Dormida Trail – one of the most popular and amazing view points of the area.

7. LOS CHORROS DE OLA

If you love hiking and waterfalls and are around Cocle Area in Panama, you shouldn’t miss Los Chorros de Ola in Cocle, Panama. Cocle has a lot more waterfalls for you to see if that’s the type of trip that you want. You can check out The Lovers Falls, Tavida Waterfall, El Chorro Macho, Yayas Falls, The Maidens Falls, Chorro El Retiro.

8. ISLA ESCUDO DE VERAGUAS

Casco Viejo (meaning Old Quarter in Spanish), is Panama City’s historic district. It is also known as also known as Casco Antiguo or San Felipe. Here you can see historic architecture, however Casco Viejo is also a common spot in Panama for good tropical weather and bustling night life. Casco Viejo in itself is a beauty, and is considered as a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site.

10. PANAMA CANAL

Panama Canal is of course one of the most important shipping ways in the world. It’s an artificial waterway connecting the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean. It would definitely be nice to take a photograph of this, as it is one of the most important trading connections in the world.

11. PORTOBELO

A beautiful, small town in the North of Panama is Portobelo. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A lot of the remnants of the colonial Spanish forts still exist in Portobelo. It was the largest colonial Spanish port in Central America. If you like historical places, or stepping into places that transport you to a different space in time, Portobelo is worth a visit.

12. ZAPATILLA ISLAND

Zapatillas Island or Zapatillas Cays is found at the east of Bastimentos Island in Boca Del Toro archipelago. Breathtaking waters and water activities await you in this island. Beautiful coral reefs, mangrove islands with white sand, reefs full of amazing marine life, and huge biodiversity.

You can even see a migration of turtles on its beaches, if you’re visiting from March to September. Zapatillas has its name from local legend because they believed when God stepped on this earth, the islands of Zapatillas were formed, therefore having its unique shape.
