SORSOGON ITINERARY TRAVEL GUIDE
HOW TO GET TO SORSOGON – GETTING SORSOGON BY PLANE
If you want to get from Manila to Sorsogon by plane. It will be the most comfortable way. You have to ride a plane to Legazpi airport. Once in the airport get a tricycle to the Bus Terminal where you can get a bus or a van going to Sorsogon. There are buses and vans leaving every 15-30 minutes during the day. Prices are around 100 PHP.
GETTING SORSOGON BY BUS
If you want to get from Manila to Sorsogon by bus. There are daily buses leaving Manila from Edsa Cubao, Araneta Cubao, Alabang, Buendia and Pasay. Most of the buses are from 5 pm to 10 pm leaving from Manila.
The trip will take around 14 hours. And prices go from 800-1300 PHP depending on the comfort of the bus. Regular buses can go as cheap as 800 PHP.

ATMS AND EXCHANGE CURRENCY IN SORSOGON
The currency in the Philippines is Philippine Peso. You won’t also find it hard to find ATMs in Sorsogon City. There are a lot of establishments as well as banks in the town proper that has ATMs. Around the beaches we will recommend you to bring cash. Since you will not find ATMs in small towns and a few hotels they will only accept cash.

TRANSPORTATION AROUND SORSOGON
There are jeepneys to move around Sorsogon and buses. You have to pay attention to the schedule since there aren’t many jeepneys and buses at in the evening. Around the city you can move around tricycle expect to pay around 40-50 PHP for 2 kilometers ride.
Prices are affordable for transportation around Sorsogon. For an hour and a half jeepney ride from Sorsogon to Matnog will cost 100 PHP. You can always move around buses going to Legazpi and Manila for short distances.
DAILY BUDGET TRAVEL IN SORSOGON ITINERARY
For the daily budget travel in accommodation in Sorsogon. There are a few rooms and B&Bs, Airbnb available all over Sorsogon that cost around 1000 PHP per night. That’s just $19 USD! Most of the places are close to city center and Bus Terminal.
On the other hand, meals in local joints only cost $2-3 USD so eating here won’t burn a hole in your wallet, for sure. You might actually $25 USD per day if you’re traveling as a couple, like we were splitting costs in tours and the room. Finally, you can rent a motorbike for around $8-10 USD. A cheaper option to get around is riding the local bus with rates depending on the distance.

SORSOGON TOURIST SPOTS AND THINGS TO DO IN SORSOGON
1. DONSOL
To top our list of Sorsogon Tourist Spots is Donsol. This place is famous because it is known as the home of Butanding or the Whale Sharks.
When you visit Donsol, you shouldn’t miss diving and swimming with the whale sharks. Don’t worry because they are friendly creatures. Just don’t do anything that will stress or scare them.
2. LAKE BULUSAN
Sometimes referred to as “Switzerland of the Orient” , Bulusan Lake is a natural beauty. The vibrant lake backgrounded by the lush forest is a great scenery to bask in. The lake is part of the 4th most active Volcano in the Philippines, Bulusan Volcano. No wonder it’s one of the famous Sorsogon tourist spots!
3. SAINT JOSEPH PARISH OR BARCELONA CHURCH
Old churches often give amazing historical vibes. Saint Joseph Parish is built in 1874 using stones from the sea and were put together using a mixture of egg whites, lime and tuba. It is also the most well-preserved church in the province.
4. TIKLING ISLAND
As a part of the tour Tikling Island is only 15 minutes boat ride from Matnog. It’s a private island. You will find pink sand and blue waters. The named of Tikling Island is because of the birds with this name there were on the island. We couldn’t visit at that time because of the last typhoon two weeks before.
5. SUBIC BEACH
Subic Beach was our favorite in our Sorsogon Itinerary and it was worth it to spend the day. Blue and transparent water where you can do snorkeling. The white sand is inviting to spend your day. Before going to Subic Beach we pass by to the Caves which was part of the tour based in the Tourism Office.
It’s called Pink Beach! It’s a long beach where you can walk around, swim and even snorkeling. You have to bring your own snorkeling since there is not snorkeling for rent. You always have to be ready for snorkeling in the Philippines.
We enjoyed Subic Beach for ourselves nobody came into the beach. You can stay overnight there are a few cottages for rent. You can also rent a cottage to spend your day 500 PHP. There is no entrance fee in Subic Beach.
6. CALINTAAN ISLAND IN MATNOG
Another one of our favorite Sorsogon tourist spots is Calintaan Cave, which we visited after Juag Lagoon. We only passed by there and we didn’t even stop to take a picture. We took while passing by with the boat before coming back to Subic Beach.
It wasn’t possible to stop because of the tide. Sadly, they didn’t give any information if it was allowed to stop there in other schedule during the day. From Calintaan Cave to Subic Beach takes a 10-minute boat ride.
7. JUAG LAGOON
Our first stop in Matnog Island hopping during our trip here was Juag Lagoon where you can feed and swim with the fishes. On that day the rates for feeding the fishes was 200 PHP. Plus another 200 PHP extra per adult for swimming in Juag Lagoon.
It takes 15 minutes to get there from the port. And from Juag Lagoon to the next stop Calitaan Caves or Subic Beach will take 10-15 minutes more by boat.
8. PAGURIRAN ISLAND
Paguriran island is one of those best things to do in Sorsogon that are not yet commercialized in Sorsogon. Paguriran island entrance fee is only 20 PHP to 50 PHP. The island also has a lagoon that makes the place different from other beaches. Mayon Volcano’s majestic symmetry is also seen from far.
9. BAGATAO ISLAND
The beach in Bagatao Island is a great place to swim, but the Bagatao Island’s lighthouse is much more of a spot to visit. The scene at the top is beautiful, full of Sorsogon’s vibrant trees and calm waters.
10. LIBANON BEACH
Libanon Beach located in San Juan, Bacon is different from other beaches because of its rock formations and somehow dark hued sand. The sky is clearly seen from almost all angles, there are little to no buildings around.
11. DANCALAN BEACH (BULUSAN)
Dancalan Beach Resort did not fail to capture and retain the natural landscape and vibes of Sorsogon. The resort itself is exciting and uplifting. The food is also great. It is near the Whale Sharks Interaction Center, and Astillero of Donsol, Dancalan Beach.
12. RIZAL BEACH, BAYUGIN FALLS
Rizal Beach may be your average beach, but it is still a place to go if you’re near. You’ll have your own space in the Beach because it is large. The sand is brownish gray and the water is clear.

13. BAYUGIN FALLS
After a slippery walk for almost 20 minutes from the community center you’d definitely enjoy being one with nature. The place is surrounded by green forest and you can reward yourself by dipping yourself on the cold waters.
14. TOLONG GAPO BEACH
Tolong Gapo Beach is a very humble beach along Barangay Caricaran. You’ll often see families around the area swimming at the beach. As far as enjoying a public beach, Tolong Gapo will entertain you with its stories.
15. PALOGTOK FALLS
It is accessible by walking from Brgy. San Roque. The falls is really small, however, there is a natural pool that’s really great to swim into. Some parts of the pool may be relatively deep, so be wary.
16. UBO FALLS
Ubo Falls is one of the Hidden gems in Sorsogon. The falls is hidden among the thick forest but is definitely worth looking for. You could also bring your own food, just remember to bring your trash and keep it to yourself until finding a trash can.
17. GUBAT SURFING
Try surfing in Buenavista Beach in Gubat Sorsogon. The place isn’t fully developed yet that’s why the place is a charm. The accomodation around the are well ventilated nipa huts. If you want to learn about surfing, you can learn it here for only 350 PHP.
18. PILAR
Pilar is a neighboring town of Donsol. It’s also a good spot to look for white sharks while enjoying it’s clear blue waters.
19. MALAWMAWAN ISLAND
The entrance fee is free, and the boat ride for a round trip costs only 500 PHP. Almost everywhere you look at will be clear blue waters and sky. Electricity and cell phone signal might be a problem. Also, if you’re a fan of pitching tents beside the beach, you can do so.
20. IROSIN HOT SPRINGS
Irosin Hot Springs is near Bulusan Volcano. It is inside a resort called Nature Hot Spring Resort in Monbon, Irosin, Sorsogon. It is only a 45 minute drive from Sorsogon City.
21. OLANGO BEACH
Olango Beach is a small and humble resort that’s truly relaxing. It is located in Santa Magdalena, Sorsogon. Many families and groups of friends go here to have a picnic beside the beach. One of the most beautiful Sorsogon tourist spots.
22. PAROLA BEACH (MAGALLANES)
To go here, take a jeepney or a tricycle from Brgy. Bacalon in Magallanes. Boat rentals from the pier to Parola Beach costs for about 1200-1500 PHP. Parola Beach is also in Bagatao Island.
23. PANUMBAGAN SANDBAR
It’s becoming more of a tourist spot now as Pilar is also becoming known. You could eat here the delicious Uni (urchins) and sea grapes right from the waters. You could also snorkel around the area.
24. TUTIN BEACH
Located in Brgy. San Ramon, Tutin beach is also a gem loved by locals. The scenic meeting of the clear wavy water and cloudy sky makes most of the view.
25. SABANG BEACH
Sabang Beach is a good place to ease yourself after a tiring day. It’s better to just sit around and feel the sea breeze hug you. It’s better to have a picnic to enjoy the view. The last of the Sorsogon tourist spots in this list.

If you are looking for places where to stay in the Sorsogon area. Prices start from 1000 PHP if you are going on a budget. For more comfortable places to stay at, places are starting from 1500-3000 PHP for a room for two people with breakfast. However, prices may vary as the facilities increase.
