HOW TO GET FROM CAGAYAN DE ORO TO SIARGAO
BY BUS FROM CAGAYAN DE ORO TO SIARGAO
If you want to get from Cagayan de Oro to Siargao by bus. The first step is to head to Agora Market by jeepney or taxi. It’s 2 kilometers far from city center. And Agora Market you will find the Bus Station with buses going to Butuan City.
Buses are leaving every hour and the price is 300 PHP and it will take around 3 hours. You have to go to Surigao City as final destination. But there aren’t direct buses from Cagayan de Oro. That’s why you have to go to Butuan City first.
Once in Butuan City you have to ride another bus going to Surigao City. Prices are around 200 PHP for 3 hours ride. Bus will be more comfortable and vans faster. You will be able to save half an hour journey if you go by van.
Once in Surigao City Bus Terminal you have to ride a jeepney or a tricycle going to the Ferry Terminal. It’s only 4 kilometers away. Once in the port, you have to ride a ferry going to Siargao Island.
There are available ferry rides daily from Surigao City to Siargao Island. There are two choices for ferry the fast boats and the slower boats. Fast Boats is either a multi-level steel vessels of single level large bancas. Duration time would be four hours, fare would be around $10 USD. You can follow the same way than the bus mentioned above. Prices are similar. Van are usually half and hour faster each way. Vans leave when they are full. They are so convenient especially if you have little luggage.
GETTING TO GENERAL LUNA FROM DAPA PORT IN SIARGAO
Just walk outside to the terminal where you will find tricycles. You can share a tricycle 40 PHP each. The travel time from Dapa to General Luna is 30 minutes.
If you prefer a private tricycle will cost you 200-300 PHP from Dapa to General Luna.
The whole journey can last around 10-12 hours since you have waiting time for the buses and vans leaving. And also in the port. But with this guide knowing the schedule everything will be easier.
