There are daily buses and trains going to Zurich from Bern and Lucerne. If you drive from Bern and Lucerne to Zurich will be 1-2 hours by car. I went during my road trip from Bern to Zurich and it was around 1 hour driving.

ZURICH ITINERARY DAILY BUDGET TRAVEL

There are many ways to explore this Zurich itinerary. You can go walking around Zurich to most of the places or get public transportation for around 2€ a single bus ticket. You can go by bicycle too and electric scooter since there are many ways for this.

There are meals in Zurich at local restaurants for as low as €20-30. Those who want to eat something a bit fancier can have a meal at a mid-range restaurant for around €40-60 or even less if you have someone to split the bill with. Dinner at a top restaurant in Zurich can go for €70-150.

There are all sorts of accommodations in Zurich. From hostels and B&Bs to apartments and hotels, you’re sure to find one that fits your budget. For example, staying at a hostel or booking a dorm bed goes for around €40. A room at a mid-range hotel or a nice apartment can cost around €100-150.

Luxury hotels in Zurich can charge €200 and higher. If you want to stay somewhere comfortable and safe minus the cost, you can always try AirBnB in Zurich. There are entire apartments that go for as low as €100.

THINGS TO DO IN ZURICH AND ZURICH TOURIST SPOTS

1. Zurich Lake

Lake of Zurich was the first one in the list of Zurich tourist spots that I visited. A nice place for walking around, sitting down, relax and having a snack with the views of the lake. You can also do activities like swimming in Lake Zurich, and sailing there are boats around Zurich Lake. It’s huge and really nice to watch the views.

2. Walking Around The Old Town

Walking Around The Old Town in Zurich is really nice and it’s not very big. You will find bars and restaurants, churches, bridges and viewpoints to the river. The city center in Zurich is only a few minutes walking from the lake.

3. Zurich Opera

Zurich Opera is located at the Sechseläutenplatz a beautiful area where locals stay during the day walking around located a few steps from Lake Zurich and a few minutes walking distance from old town.

4. Cruising By Boat Around Lake Zurich

You can take a boat cruise in Lake Zurich to Rapperswil for around 2 hours. You can go back by boat again or take the train around 40 minutes to go back to Zurich.

5. Grossmunster Church

Grossmunster Church is a Romanesque-style Protestant church was built around 1100 and it was inaugurated around 1220. Grossmunster Church is one of the best Zurich tourist spots that you can’t miss it.

6. Fraumünster Church

Fraumünster Church also called Women’s Minster was built in 853 by Louis the German for his daughter Hildegard. Fraumünster Church is one of the four main churches of Zurich located in the city center.

7. St. Peter’s Church

St. Peter’s was built around 1000 year and replaced in 1230 by a late Romanesque structure. And later it was rebuilt in Gothic style in 1460.
There is no entrance fee at St. Peter’s Church.

8. Gerold Cuchi Umbrellas

Walking around Gerold Cuchi Umbrellas to find one of the most instagrammable spots in Zurich. A colorful place to walk around if you love taking pictures as we do.

9. The FIFA World Football Museum

The FIFA World Football Museum is a great museum and to spend a day if you are a passionate football fan to learn about history and how football evolved with videos, visuals and pictures.

The FIFA World Football Museum entrance fee is 24 CHF for adults and 14 CHF for kids and students. The FIFA World Football Museum opening hours from 12-6 pm from Wednesday to Friday and 10 am to 6 pm Saturday and Sunday. Monday and Tuesday is closed.

Trying Swiss chocolate is one of the best things to do in Zurich and the whole Switzerland. If you have sweet tooth you should go for it. You can find them everywhere in the city.

Local Markets in Zurich city center are really good and you will find them twice per week. It’s perfect for fruits, vegetables, cheese and other fresh product from the farmers. You will also be able to find some street food salty and sweet.

Visit the Botanic Garden is one of the best things to do in Zurich traveling with kids especially or if you like green areas. Botanic Garden in Zurich has no entrance fee.

13. Hike Uetliberg

You can hike Uetliberg will take 2 hours and you will get fresh air combining best views from the top to Zurich city and lake. You can also go by train and there a few trails to go up.

14. Nightlife in Zurich

Nightlife in Zurich is really nice and you will find bars with live music where you can also order some food while drinking or listening to the music. In summer there are free concerts in the park and it’s really cool!

15. Kunsthaus Zürich (Museum of Fine Arts)

Kunsthaus Zürich also called Museum of Fine Arts is one of the best things to do if you like art. You will find collection of Swiss artists, Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky and Claude Monet. Kunsthaus Zürich entrance fee is 23 CHF for adults.

16. Schweizerisches Landesmuseum (Swiss National Museum)

Schweizerisches Landesmuseum also called Swiss National Museum is one of the best Zurich tourist spots to visit. You will find exhibitions about Switzerland, archaeology, history, science and literature.

Schweizerisches Landesmuseum opening hours from Tuesday to Sunday 10 a.m to 5 p.m (except on Thursdays until 7 p.m). Schweizerisches Landesmuseum entrance fee is 10 CHF for adults.

17. BERN

The day trip from Zurich to Bern is a must or you can skip if you visit the capital of Bern for more days as I can recommend you. It will take around one hour driving or even less if you go by train. Bern has beautiful parks and it’s a nice place to walk around, enjoying swimming around the river or the nightlife.

18. JUNGFRAUJOCH

Jungfraujoch will take you the whole day as day trip from Zurich. Jungfraujoch is 3400 meters high and you will get amazing views. Also you will have to visit the popular Sculptures at the Ice Palace.

19. INTERLAKEN

Interlaken is only one hour drive from Zurich and its one of the best road trips that you can take. You can do hikes, take funiculars and enjoying the vibe of the town full of bars and restaurants.

20. BRIENZ

Brienz is less than one hour drive from Zurich and it was one of my favorite spots to visit in Switzerland. Brienz isn’t so crowded as Interlaken and the views in the lake are amazing. You can walk or go by bicycle around the lake, swimming and other activities. Plus a few spots to park your camper to spend a night around the area.

21. THUN

Thun is a beautiful small town more than two hours drive from Zurich. Half of the way between Interlaken and Brienz the other extreme of the lake. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in Thun city center and it’s so peaceful to enjoy the sunset swimming.

22. LAKE ZUG

Lake Zug will take you less than one hour drive from Zurich. You can swim around the lake or hike up to enjoy the views. The water is so clear and the green scenery is so perfect for taking pictures and enjoying a day.
