When you travel backpacking in Vietnam, you surely shouldn’t miss visiting Hoi An. This small town with a population of 120 000 people is considered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s located in Quang Nam Province and has many things to do in Hoi An to tourists.

How to get to Hoi An

If you are coming from Hanoi or Nah Trang, you can come to Hoi An by riding a train or a bus. A night bus ride fare costs around $10-$15 and you’ll get to ride and rest in a sleeper bus with wifi and a very comfortable seat where you can lay down and sleep. The trip will last 12-14 hours.

If you are coming from Da Nang, you can go to Hoi An by riding a bus or renting a motorcycle since it’s only a half an hour ride.

Hoi An is a very small town and you can explore the whole are in 10-15 minutes only. You’ll reach the beach in 15 minutes only through riding a bicycle. Biking actually makes moving around the town easy. Just make sure you know where you’re parking your bicycle since there are thousands of them here. How much does it cost to rent a bicycle? You won’t believe that it only costs $1 for 24 hours!

Food in Hoi An is really affordable. You can get a meal for $1-$3, which can be noodle soup with iced tea, Bahn Mi, coffee, barbecue. There’s just so many choices. Vietnamese gastronomy has a nice variety of dishes. We looked for places where most eaters or goers are locals. With this strategy, you can assure that the food is new and affordable.

Visit the night market

This is the main attraction for the tourists. Visit the night market that is full of lanterns. It´s really colorful and peaceful walking around. There are restaurants, street food, ice cream stands. The weather is really good at night time. It’s not so hot unlike during daytime.

Day trip to Da Nang

If you want to visit one of the largest cities in Vietnam, have a half an hour ride by a car, bus, or a motorcycle going to Da Nang. The lights at night in the Dragon Bridge is so beautiful and worth-visiting.
