HOW TO GET TO INTERLAKEN FOR HIKING HARDER KULM

The best way to get to Interlaken in Switzerland is by train. If you are traveling in a road trip in Switzerland as I did. It will be really easy since the distances are short in Switzerland and the roads are really good for driving. It will take you one hour from Bern and more than one hour if you are headed to Zurich and Lucerne.

WHERE TO PARK IN INTERLAKEN

First of all you will have to park your car in Interlaken. There are a few parking spots around the city where you can park. If you want to park for free in Interlaken before hiking Harder Kulm you can do it here. There is a Lidl supermarket where you can leave your car and also buy food and drinks if you need for your Harder Kulm hike.

WHERE TO START HIKING HARDER KULM

Harder Kulm hike starts in the exact point where the funicular departure. If you prefer hiking or avoiding the funicular price is 34 CHF as you know Switzerland isn’t a cheap country to travel. There are signs with the distance and time to reach Harder Kulm.

The hike is steep and it will take from 1 hour 30 minutes if you are fit to more than 2 hours if you aren’t so fit to reach 1322 meters. It took me 1 hour 45 minutes taking my time for taking pictures but without stopping so much. On the way down will be around 1 hour. The signs will tell you is 2 hours and 20 minutes the hike.

There are a few tracks where you can have a short cut some of them aren’t so well indicated. You will find a fountain half of the way to drink water or refill your bottle. And the views are so impressive the colors of the blue water combined with the green landscape.

Once you are on the top Harder Kulm viewpoint you will get the amazing views of Interlaken. There is a restaurant just in case you want to have a beer, snack or even eat something. As you can imagine prices aren’t cheap. While hiking Harder Kulm you will find a few spots to sit down and eat something if you want to.

You will also find a children’s playground next to the restaurant. And you will see a few people on the viewpoint where there is a glass to see the best views of Interlaken.

From Harder Kulm you can do also more hikes to Unterseen around 1 hour 30 minutes, to Ringgenberg 1 hour 45 minutes. Around 4 hours to Roteflue, Horetalp, Habkern and the longest one to Augstmatthorn 5 hours 30 minutes.

WHAT TO BRING FOR HIKING HARDER KULM

Harder Kulm hike is steep and it will not take around 3 hours going up and down. Make sure you are wearing proper shoes since it can be slippery. Make sure you bring water and you can bring a small picnic to enjoy the viewpoint. If it’s winter for sure winter clothes and don’t forget your camera to take beautiful pictures.

HARDER KULM FUNICULAR PRICES AND SCHEDULE

Harder Kulm funicular prices is 34 CHF return ticket per person. The funicular in Harder Kulm is opened from April to November and it’s running every 30 minutes. It will take only 10 minutes to get to Harder Kulm point of view. Once there you will have to walk 5 minutes passing by the restaurant!
