HOW TO GET TO LAGO DI CAREZZA BY CAR

The best way to get to Lago di Carezza is from Bolzano by car. It will take 40 minutes driving distance. Bolzano is a nice place to spend a day or more since is beautiful and quiet. The best way to move around Dolomites is renting a car or a van. Otherwise by public transportation you will be limited with the schedule and it will take so long.

GETTING TO LAGO DI CAREZZA BY BUS FROM BOLZANO

If you are staying in Bolzano there are buses going to Lago di Carezza Number 180 from Bolzano bus station going to Val di Fassa. It costs €4 one way and it will take 50 minutes.

The main problem with the bus that the departure starts at 8 am so if you want to take pictures alone will be hard in the sunrise. There are also buses coming from Val di Fassa Number 180 if you are staying in that area.

LAGO DI CAREZZA ENTRANCE FEE

Lago Di Carezza has no entrance fee. You only need to pay the parking if you are coming by car. It will not take so long to visit Lago Di Carezza since it’s not really big.

LAGO DI CAREZZA PARKING FEE

Lago Di Carezza entrance fee is only €1 per hour and first 15 minutes are for free. You will have a restaurant inside and you can go walking 2 minutes distance to Lago Di Carezza. The parking is huge!

HOW TO PARK FOR FREE IN LAGO DI CAREZZA

Free parking at Lago Di Carezza? If you don’t like parking fees to go to Lago Di Carezza. You can park 1 kilometer distance after the lake on the left side and you can go down walking. I did by myself since I spent the night in my van just 10 minutes walking distance from Lago Di Carezza.

THINGS TO DO IN LAGO DI CAREZZA

TAKE PICTURES

Lago Di Carezza is a beautiful place to take pictures. You aren’t allowed to jump the fence so make sure you follow this respecting the rule. Obviously swimming isn’t allowed, you can do that at Lago Di Braies. There are a few beautiful spots for pictures around the lake. The colors are amazing with the reflections in the water.

Hiking Around Di Carezza Lake

If you want to hike around Lago Di Carezza there are plenty of them. All of them well indicated. From 1 hour to 2 hours hike to reach the lake. If you want to hike around Lago Di Carezza will not take you more than 20 minutes included a couple of stops for taking pictures or videos.

BEST TIME TO VISIT LAGO DI CAREZZA ITALY

The best time for visiting Lago Di Carezza in Dolomites is the sunrise first thing in the morning. Since it will be less busy and you can enjoy the place just with a few people. Especially if you want to take pictures and videos. But take note that the water around 10 am will be very clear if it’s a sunny day!

About the weather in Lago Di Carezza can be freezing in the morning outside summer season. If you can’t visit for the sunrise we recommend you to visit around 4 pm for sunset since most of the people are leaving after lunch. You will find less people but it can be late if you want to hike around Lago Di Carezza.

WHERE TO STAY IN LAGO DI CAREZZA

You can stay in Bolzano only 40 minutes driving distance from Lago Di Carezza. Bolzano will be a great place to stay since there are a few hotels for all the budget. You will find bars, restaurants and supermarkets. Plus Bolzano is so beautiful! You can also stay in camping sites and hotels near Lago Di Carezza just one kilometer distance

WHAT TO BRING AT LAGO DI CAREZZA

If you want to buy food and water you can do in the entrance at the restaurant. Expect to pay more expensive prices for this than usual! If you are bringing you own food you can do a picnic around the lake there are a few spots for this. If you are coming outside summer season the weather can be freezing.

So make sure you are bringing clothes for winter and proper shoes if you are planning to hike around Lago Di Carezza. If you are coming in winter Lago Di Carezza will be frozen.

AFTER VISITING LAGO DI CAREZZA

COSTALUNGA PASS

Costalunga Pass is only 5 minutes driving distance from Lago Di Carezza. There are beautiful hikes to do and you can even take the funicular. If you prefer to relax you will find restaurants to try local food or just for having an expresso before keep going with your road trip.

LAGO DI BRAIES

You can get from Lago Di Carezza to Lago Di Braies driving 2 hours. It will be a great landscape around the Dolomites and these two lakes is a must of visiting in your road trip around Dolomites.

VAL FISCALINA

It will take 2 hours driving to get from Lago Di Carezza to Val Fiscalina. A beautiful hike that can take from 1 hour to 4-5 hours depending on the time that you decide to spend there. You will find parking and a place to stay in Val Fiscalina also known as Three Peaks.
