The best tip for avoiding altitude sickness based in our experience is having a pill for altitude sickness before your trip every 12 hours for 3 days. Apart from this drinking water, avoid alcohol as much as you can and try to sleep longer. Try to make your day easy and slow first two days in Cusco if you have enough time.

Bus From Huacachina To Cusco (Cheapest Way)

The cheapest way from Huacachina to Cusco is by bus. There is no direct bus from Huacachina to Cusco. You will have to get from Huacachina to Ica Bus Terminal by taxi only 4 kilometers and 10 minutes travel time.

BUS SCHEDULE FROM HUACACHINA TO CUSCO (ICA TO CUSCO)

The bus schedule from Huacachina to Cusco is running just a few times per day. Civa Buses are going from Ica to Cusco leaving from Ica Bus Terminal.

The bus fare from Huacachina to Cusco with Civa starts at $26 USD and you can book online. The travel time from Huacachina to Cusco is 18 hours.

The bus will make a short stop at Nazca and 3 hours before getting to Cusco for a quick breakfast. If you choose the cheapest bus will have less comfort when reclining your seats. We took the Civa Bus for $32 USD and it was so comfortable!

Before the bus trip from Ica to Cusco is advisable to take one pill for altitude sickness that you can buy in any pharmacy in Ica just near Ica Bus Terminal. You have to get one pill every 12 hours starting with the bus ride for 3 days to try to avoid altitude sickness.

We did it in this way as people advised to us and we didn’t have any issues when getting to Cusco at 3400 meters which can be so challenging especially if you are coming by plane from Lima to Cusco.

Other Bus Companies Schedule From Huacachina To Cusco (Ica to Cusco)

There are other bus companies going from Ica to Cusco like Palomino and Cruz del Sur. The bus schedule is similar leaving from Ica Bus Terminal depending on the bus company different Bus Terminal but nearby of them.

You can go within walking distance and there are restaurants to have lunch and buy food and water for your bus ride. The bus fare from Ica to Cusco is similarly starting at 130-180 PEN which is $35-50 USD. You can check Cruz del Sur schedule and prices and Palomino schedule and prices.

Going from Huacachina To Ica

If you are going from Huacachina to Ica to get to the Bus Terminal. It takes 10 minutes of travel time from Huacachina to Ica and the taxi fare is 10-15 PEN which is $3-4 USD. There are tuk tuks and taxis but there is no public transportation from Ica to Huacachina.

FOOD BUDGET TRAVEL IN PERU

A total of $5-6 USD can be your daily food budget travel in Cusco. Local food in a local restaurant will start from $2-5 USD. You can get snacks like street foods for $1 USD. You can buy a combination of ceviche and lomo salteado with a drink for only $3 USD.

BEST TIME TO VISIT IN CUSCO

You can go to Cusco any time of the year. The months of December to February are the best time to visit Peru because is the sunniest and also the peak season. October to November is the months ideal for those working with a budget because it is considered the low season in the country.

The official currency of Peru is called Peruvian Sol (PEN). And $1 USD=3.75 PEN. ATMs and exchange offices are available all throughout the city. And it is also advisable to withdraw as much as you can because fees for transactions tend to be higher for foreign cars.

Banco de la Nacion is the only bank in Peru that isn’t charging commissions for foreign cards in Cusco and Peru.
