AUSTRIAN SIM CARD AND BEST PREPAID AUSTRIA TOURIST SIM CARD

AUSTRIA PREPAID SIM CARD BACKGROUND

First thing we have to say about internet and data connection in Austria is amazing and most of the places you will have 4G and I don’t even remember being offline while traveling in Austria even in remote areas.

Obviously the best thing you can do to connect online is getting a prepaid sim card in Austria. It will be efficient and it will allow you to connect anytime. We recommend you to get your sim card in the phone shops in Austria since it’s cheaper than buying in the airport. If you want to connect online in a hurry it will be useful to leave the airport with your Austrian sim card to order Uber or checking maps to your next destination.

There are 3 phone operators in Austria: A1, T-Mobile and Drei 3. In general data packages are very expensive for just a few GB data connection compared with the rest of Europe. If you prefer to get affordable prices the best sim card for Austria and great coverage is with Drei 3 for €30 with 18 GB data and local calls and sms. There are good options with T Mobile too you will see below but some of the packages you will not be able to use outside Austria as the other prepaid sim cards.

Make sure you check the packages properly in Austria most of the companies have packages with different data for Austria and Europe or even blocked.

Make sure you check the packages properly in Austria most of the companies have packages with different data for Austria and Europe or even blocked.

That’s why my favorite one is Drei 3 with the best data package €30 with 18 GB data and local calls and sms valid 30 days.

You will have to show your passport in the phone store and pay €10 to get a T Mobile prepaid sim card coming with 5 GB credit or 5000 minutes or sms. You can top up with these packages: €15 with 15 GB data for Austria and 9 GB for Europe and 1500 minutes or sms. For €20 with 20 GB data for Austria and 12 GB for Europe and 2000 minutes or sms. And for €30 with 30 GB for Austria and 17 GB for Europe with 3000 minutes and sms.
