How to get from Butuan to Surigao

Surigao is divided in two: there is Surigao del Norte which capital is Surigao City and  Surigao del Sur its capital is Tandag City. We already wrote Surigao tourist spots and today we will write how to get from Butuan to Surigao by bus and van.

WEATHER/BEST TIME TO VISIT SURIGAO

Most places in the Philippines, including the tourists spots and provinces are are most popular during the dry season, between November and April. At this time the country is fully accessible, including its many beautiful islands and more remote areas. Temperatures are high during March and April, so it’s best time to visit Surigao during the cooler months of December to February.

Butuan to Surigao

Butuan to Surigao City by Bus (Butuan Bus Terminal Schedule)

If you want to get from Butuan to Surigao by bus. There are buses leaving every 1-2 hours from Butuan to Surigao. The fare Butuan to Surigao will be around 210-250 PHP (depending regular bus or with air condition). And it will take less than 3 hours of travel time.

Butuan to Surigao by Van

If you want to get from Butuan to Surigao by van. There are also a few daily vans. The travel time Butuan to Surigao by van is around two hours or 2 hours and a half. The price of the van is around 250 PHP.

The vans are leaving in front of the Bus Terminal in the market. They leave every 1-2 hours when they are full.

Butuan to Surigao: Bus or Van?

Prices are similar just 30-40 PHP depending if the bus is regular or with air condition. The buses have more comfort and the van is usually faster than the bus.

You can save around one hour by van. If you have so much luggage maybe it will be more convenient the bus for you.

TRANSPORTATION AROUND SURIGAO

Jeepneys and multicabs are the main mode of transportation around Surigao. There are also tricycles and motorbikes. There will be bus terminals for longer and farther destinations.

Of course, since Surigao is near the sea and it has a port, people can go in and out of Surigao with ferry boats with daily trips like in Camiguin Island. Prices of transportation around Surigao are affordable.
