Nanshan Temple was built on 12 th of April in 1988 to commemorate two thousand years of Buddhism in China. Nanshan Temple is located just 40 kilometers west of Sanya City along the Hainan West Expressway and we will tell you in this blog post how to get to Nanshan Temple by public bus from Sanya.

How to get to Nanshan Temple By Bus

If you want to get to Nanshan Temple by bus. It will be affordable plus isn’t so difficult to get there. There are public buses 16, 30, 25, 57 going to Nanshan Temple from downtown. It will be easy to get there just telling the driver Nanshan Temple. It will take 40 minutes to one hour to get there. And it will cost 4 RMB which is around 60 cents of USD.

How to get to Nanshan Temple By Taxi

If you want to get to Nanshan Temple by taxi. It will be the most comfortable way. Expect to pay 80-100 RMB for 30-40 minutes ride from Sanya City Center. There are apps like Didi that can go the price between 60-80 RMB. If you travel on a group it can be a perfect option paying $2 USD each to get there.

Weather/Best time to visit Sanya

If you love tropical weather you will love Sanya. The temperature is avarage between 23-26 °C. The best time to visit Sanya is from December to January in the dry season when the weather isn’t so hot. The summer months from July to September is the rainy season and it can be really hot.

CURRENCY AND ATMS IN SANYA

The Renminbi abbreviated RMB or Chinese Yuan is the currency in China and also in Sanya, Hainan. For $1 USD you will have 7 RMB.

To exchange cash the best way is heading to the banks. It can be really hard to find exchange offices and even in hotels for cash. So the most reliable option in our experience is going to the bank.

Nanshan Temple (Travel Guide)

Definitely Nanshan Temple was our favorite of this list of things to do in Sanya. You can enjoy a local atmosphere. Nansahn Temple is Buddhist and there is a small pilgrimage before going inside. You have to walk in zigzag waiting the line. Inside you can’t take pictures and videos. You can climb to the third level to see the feed of the Giant Buddha.

Apart from the temple there are beautiful views  and a few temple to visit since the area is huge. There are restaurants where you can only eat Vegetarian food. We did and it was so delicious. The views to the sea were so beautiful.

Entrance Fees Nanshan Temple

If you visit Nanshan Temple in peak season from October to April will cost you 129 RMB and off season the rest of the year will cost 108 RMB. Apart from the main temple with the big statue you can also visit other parks and areas. The place is huge and to move around you have to take a train 30 RMB or walk a lot. The train will take you around the main stops from the entrance. Apart from taking the train you will have to walk a few meters to reach the temples, parks and statues around.

Eating at Nanshan Temple

There are restaurants if you wish to have lunch with the Big Statue views. They serve only vegetarian food. We did lunch and prices for a meal for 5 people were around 400 RMB. It means around $12-15 USD per person for delicious food and great views.

WHERE TO STAY IN SANYA

Sanya has 25 kilometers long areas to stay. We liked it Sanya Bay because was quiet and it was easier to go for local life. The resorts area will have all the comfort that you need but little bit far from Sanya city center and local life.

OAKWOOD HOTEL SERVICE APARTMENTS (SANYA BAY)

We spent amazing time at Oakwood in Sanya. It’s located just a few minutes walking from Sanya Bay Beach. The property is so peaceful. You feel like at home more than a hotel is a luxury Airbnb. The food was great, the room also perfect. The best was the staff who took us around Sanya showing the best spots and introducing us to the local life.

We stayed at Wyndham Sanya Bay  for a week in this resort. Everything was great less than 5 minutes walking distance to the beach with pool area. Friendly staff and 25 minutes driving from city center.
