Best time to visit Puerto Galera

We believe that the best time to visit Puerto Galera is from February to April when you will find better prices and still good weather. November to March is the High Season with a peak for Christmas and New Year’s Eve in Puerto Galera. April and May is the Peak Season so you should book well in advance as accommodations like hotels and homestays in Puerto Galera tend to be fully booked and has price increase. How to get from Manila to Puerto Galera

If you get from Manila to Puerto Galera. You will have to ride a bus to Batangas port for 2-3 hours depending of the traffic. There are buses leaving from Pasay, Cubao or Buendia. Manila to Puerto Galera fare bus is around 200 PHP for 2 hours trip to Batangas. They are running almost all day every hour! You will have to get to Batangas Pier 3. Once you are in Batangas to get to Puerto Galera you have to catch a boat. There are boats going to Muelle port for 550 PHP round trip and it will take 1 hour 15 minutes to get to Puerto Galera. If you are heading to Sabang as we did, this is your best option. You can also get to White Beach jsut let them know to the boatmen! There are two fast boats going to Balatero port from Batangas. Schedule is at 10 am and 5 pm. Prices are similar just choose what’s more convenient for your destiantion in Puerto Galera. Just going by yourself and purchase the ticket, one way or round ticket. Boats are leaving quite often during the day. Travel Tip: Once you are in Batangas 3 Ferry Terminal. There are porters offering their services and people trying to sell tickets. Just go the ticket office inside by yourself and compare schedule and prices on your own. Once you ride the boat from Batangas you have to pay the ferry terminal fee 50 PHP. And also environmental fee for maintenance of the island 50 PHP.

How to get to Puerto Galera by Flight

You can get by plane to Puerto Galera from Subic Bay and from Manila Bay. There are flights from Air Juan by seaplane. It takes 30 minutes to reach Puerto Galera from Manila. The price is around 5000-6000 PHP one way. And there are no daily flights. So make sure you check the day you are going there is a flight and book as soon as possible. The seaplane is landing at Sandbar Beach Resort in Puerto Galera.

If you are going to Puerto Galera from Boracay Island. There are daily ferries from Caticlan going to Batangas. Once in Batangas just read the steps mentioned above to reach Puerto Galera. There are daily boats leaving Caticlan Jetty port at 6 am and reaching to Batangas Pier at 3 pm. Prices are around 1400 PHP for tourist class. And night ferries leaving Caticlan Jetty port at 7 30 pm and getting to Batangas at 4 30 am for only 1000 PHP for tourist class. Click here to book your ticket in advance!

Transportation Around Puerto Galera

There are tricycles to move around the island. A trip can cost 50-100 PHP to move around. There rea also shared tricycles just check for them. If you are going from Sabang Beach to White Beach a tricycle will cost you around 250 PHP good enough for 3-4 people. There are also jeepneys to move around the island but not very often. Just look for them and ask locals for their schedule. For a private Bangka for one day Island hopping prices can be around 1500-2000 PHP. You can get 6-8 people and prices will be depending on how big are the boats or how many people are going. Try to join more people to budget your trip. The best place to get the bangkas is Sabang Beach!

Dahilig Resort

Set in Puerto Galera, 5-minute drive from Sabang Beach and 20-minute drive from White Beach, Dahilig Resort is a 3-star property that features an outdoor swimming pool, a garden and a terrace. A continental breakfast is served daily at the property. Guests can also enjoy a selection of Asian cuisine in the in-house restaurant. Hiking is among the activities that guests can enjoy near the resort. Add some more if you want to island hop. It can get pricey but in our opinion, Puerto Galera is worth every penny.
