Accommodation prices in Mykonos are very reasonable. Mykonos is one of the most visited spots in Greece, with hostels, dorm beds and apartments that go for €30-60. There are numerous boutique hotels and spacious suites that can be afforded at less than €90 while €100-150 can give you a gorgeous studio or villa, or a room in a beautiful beachfront hotel. The top hotels and Mykonos start at €200 and reach up to the thousands depending on its location and exclusivity.

How to get to Mykonos from Athens

How to get to Mykonos from Athens by Plane

A total of 182.3 km is the distance between Mykonos and Athens. There are a lot of modes of transportation that will bring you to Athens from Mykonos, and it’s always going to be based on your preference, schedule, and budget. One way is through airplanes. Mykonos Airport is an airport in Mykonos, Greece, located 4 kilometers from the town of Mykonos.

There are two transportation options to choose from going from city centre to the airport and vice versa- taxis and buses. Taxi rides generally cost €29 and they will take you to your destination for about 10 minutes only. Buses on the other hand only costs €1.80 and a time travel of 15 minutes. I would recommend to pick taxi over buses because buses are mostly available during high or peak season. There are also hotels offering this shuttle service, check with your accommodation if they are offering this service.

There’s a total of 15 available flights everyday around the time of 10am-9pm. You can book a flight for as low as €60. Book your flight through SkyScanner.com and find what suits your time and budget.

How to get to Mykonos from Athens by Ferry

You can also travel by sea from Mykonos to Athens. Blue Star Ferry, Hellenic Seaways, and Sea Jet are the ferry companies you can choose from. You can buy your ticket for as low as €20 to €40 one way ticket.

Riding Blue Star Ferry will take 3 hours to arrive at your destination, Athens to Mykonos departs at 3:30pm and would arrive at around 6:30 in the evening. And in the summer there are Blue Star ferries that will depart at 7:40 am and you will arrive at around 11 am.

With Hellenic Seaways, there is an available high speed car ferry. It will leave at 7:35am and arrival time is at 12:00 pm.

Sea Jet is the fastest ferry. It leaves at 7:30 am and you will arrive in Athens at around 12 noon. Take note that you always have to double check because schedules might change.

How to get to Mykonos from Athens, Santorini Island

One of the best and fastest way to get to Santorini from Mykonos is through plane. Flights are available throughout the day with a travel duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes for a direct flight. Flights cost for as low as €50-100. You can check Skyscanner to find what flight suits your preference.

Upon arriving to the airport, you can roam around the city with either bus or taxi. Although buses are way cheaper option costing only €1.80, the quickest option would be taking a taxi. The journey would only be 25 minutes and will cost you around €35.

Another mode of transportation to get to Santorini from Mykonos is through ferry. There are also 2 available ferry companies that will take you to Santorini. There are 2 ports in Santorini. The main port is called Athinios and the other one is located in Fira.

If you are visiting the place during summer, it is best for you to book a ferry as soon as possible or to book a few days before you plan to leave. We chose this option from Mykonos to Santorini and it was so comfortable and convinient. Prices are around €30-40 for a single ticket.

Hellenic Seaways has two options and these are Flying Cat 4 or High Speed 7. These two will generally take you to your destination for a total of 3 hours, including the stops along the way. Flying Cat departs at 9:30 am and it will arrive in Santorini by noon. Highspeed 7 is a larger ferry that departs from Mykonos at 1:50pm and will arrive in Santorini at around 4:30 pm.

Sea Jets is a smaller ferry than the one above. You can choose between Sea Jet 2 and Champion Jet 1. Sea Jet 1 has a daily schedule and it departs at 9:45am and arriving at 11:50pm. Champion Jet 1’s everyday schedule will depart at 9:40am and will arrive at 11:50pm.

How to get from ferry station in Mykonos to different places 

Mykonos is a Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea. Roaming around the island can be a bit challenging specially during the summer. Summer is the peak season of the island since there are many tourists coming to visit here.

If you booked a hotel prior to your arrival, the hotel can reserve a mode of transportation to get to their hotel. If you choose to travel through sea and want to roam around on your own, there are a lot of transportation modes for you- from buses, taxi, car and motorbikes. There are frequent buses available going from places to places in the island.

Also you can rent a taxi to move around. You can rent a car for as low as €25 per day depending on the season. There are shuttles from the hotels picking up from the ferry station too, just make sure your hotel is offering this service.

Prices of the buses to move around Mykonos are €1.80 and €2.20 and there are buses running every 30 minutes to the main destiantions in Mykonos. If you go to remote beaches in Mykonos, make sure you check the bus schedule going and coming back to avoid long waiting time and to miss the bus.

Best time to visit Mykonos

High or peak season is from July to September, where there are lots of people visiting the country. Prices are at their peak, but if you want to swim, water is the warmest so it is the best time for swimming.

Also, ferries and flights are easily accessible in these months. Don’t forget that it’s also the best time for you to visit Mykonos during these months if you are up for nightlife.
