There are only 2 shuttle bus services at 8 am and 2 45 pm stopping half of the way in Novo Mesto. The shuttle bus fare is €15 and the travel time will be around 2 hours and 20 minutes from Zagreb airport to Ljubljana Bus Station.

This option is great if it’s matching with the schedule of your flight since the final destination. From Ljubljana Bus Station to city center you will have to walk 10 minutes.

Once you are in Zagreb Bus Terminal you can take a bus to Ljubljana Bus Station with Flixbus. The bus fare is €9 and the buses are running every 90 minutes starting at 4 30 am until 11 pm. The travel time from Zagreb airport to Ljubljana Bus Station is 2 hours and 20 minutes.

You can purchase the ticket online with Flixbus, in the app or to the bus driver. There are a few bus companies with similar prices at Zagreb Bus Terminal just check them out!

TRAIN FROM ZAGREB AIRPORT TO LJUBLJANA

If you prefer taking the train from Zagreb airport you will have to reach Zagreb Train Station. You can get from Zagreb airport to Zagreb Bus Station. By local Bus 290 €1, shuttle bus from the airport is €4 both of them finishing in Central Bus Station in Zagreb and it will take 30-50 minutes. And you can go by taxi for €20 and 25 minutes. From the Bus Terminal to the Train Station is 15 minutes walking or you can take the Tram Number 2 and Number 13 for half of euro.

There are 4 daily trains running from Zagreb to Ljubljana starting at 6 58 am, 12 35 pm, 6 38 pm and last one at 9 20 pm. The train fare from Zagreb to Ljubljana is €9 and the travel time will be 2 hours and 25 minutes. The Train Station is only 10 minutes walking distance to Ljubljana and it’s next to the Bus Terminal.

TAXI FROM ZAGREB AIRPORT TO LJUBLJANA

If you go from Zagreb airport to Ljubljana by taxi the most comfortable, available 24/7 and fastest way. The travel time by taxi is around 1 hour and 45 minutes and the taxi fare from Zagreb airport to Ljubljana is around €150. If you ask me the best way from Zagreb airport to Ljubljana I would choose Zagreb airport bus shuttle to Ljubljana since a single ticket will cost around €15 and it will take 2 hours and 20 minutes especially if you are traveling alone.

But as the schedule is only at 8 am and 2 45 pm you can transfer to Zagreb Bus Terminal or Train Terminal from the airport will take you around 1 hour. By train has always beautiful landscape and I would prefer enjoying the train ride to the bus ride from Zagreb.

If you are planning to move around Ljubljana and you are traveling with more people renting a car can be a great option especially if you rent an Airbnb outskirts of Ljubljana and stopping half of the way.
