How To Get From Bogota Airport To Downtown
Bus From Bogota Airport to Bogota City Center (Bogota Airport To Candelaria)
If you are going by bus from Bogota airport to city center. You will have to get from the airport to Portal El Dorado station with the free Feeder (The Alimentador 16-14 Airport) shuttle from the airport.
The free shuttle (Green Color) is leaving the airport every 10-20 minutes. To get the free shuttle at the first floor of terminal 1 outside exit Number 6.
Feeder bus (The ALimentador Bus) 16-14 operates from Bogota airport Monday to Saturday from 5 am to 10 45 pm and Sunday from 6 am to 9 45 pm.
TRANSMILENIO BOGOTA AIRPORT TO CANDELARIA (PORTAL EL DORADO TO LA CANDELARIA)

At Portal El Dorado if you are going from Bogota airport to La Candelaria which is the most popular area for accommodation. You will have to take the Bus K86 line also takes you to the city center.
Transmilenio is running every 10 minutes. You will have to stop around University stops if you are going from Bogota airport to La Candelaria (most of the cheap accommodation in Bogota).

The total travel time will be more than 1 hour with the Free Transfer plus maybe you have to transfer to Candelaria depending on your final destination. You will find maps inside the Transmilenio and you can transfer with the same ticket. Ask for help with the drive just in case you need it!

The Transmilenio bus fare from Bogota airport is 2400 COP plus 5000 COP Tullave card around $2 USD total. Transmilenio Buses are operating from Monday to Friday from 4 30 am to 10 45 pm, Saturday from 6 am to 10 45 pm and Sunday 6 am to 9 45 pm. Keep reading below:
Tullave Card Transmilenio
The Transmilenio fare from Bogota airport to Candelaria is 2400 COP which is 60 cents of USD. You can’t pay in cash and you have to buy Tullave card that costs 5000 COP and later you top up credit. You can buy Tullave Card in the Bus Station and also at the airport.
Taxi From Bogota Airport To City Center

The taxi fare from Bogota airport to city center is around 60000 COP which is $16 USD fixed price in white taxis. The taxis are totally safe and you can hire them in the exit of the Terminal. The total travel time from Dorado International airport to Candelaria is around 25-30 minutes depending on the traffic.
Make sure they turn on the taximeter and the yellow taxis and the price will be around $16 USD. The price is great and it can be a great option if you are traveling with more people or bringing too much luggage.
Cabify And Uber From Bogota Airport To Downtown (Bogota Airport To Candelaria)

Cabify App can be useful for traveling around Colombia but they have similar fares to taxis going from the airport to city center $10-15 USD depending on the traffic or time of the day. Uber isn’t operating anymore in Colombia.
Bus P500 From Bogota Airport to City (Cheapest Way)

If you want to know the cheapest way from Bogota airport to city center. You can get the P500 Bus line in Terminal 1 at exit Number 7.
You have to pay with Tullave card like the Transmilenio Bus as we mentioned above 5000 COP to buy and later you will have to pay 2200 COP (just a little bit cheaper than Transmilenio). The Bus P500 is going from Bogota airport to Barrio El Chicó which isn’t in Candelaria exactly.
Bus Route Airport El Dorado – Normandía – Parque Metropolitano – Simón Bolívar – Parque de los Novios – Barrio Colombia – Barrio San Felipe – Barrio Porciúncula – Barrio El Chicó.
The Bus P500 is operating from 4 am to 11 pm from Monday to Saturday and from 5 am to 10 pm on Sunday and public holidays. The travel time from Bogota airport to El Chicó area is around 35-40 minutes. You can also transfer with Transmilenio if you wish.
PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION FROM BOGOTA AIRPORT TO DOWNTOWN
Hotel transfers are also very easy and convenient but can be a little bit pricey. The transfers are usually available 24 hours and is only ideal if you have the budget and you really want comfort after your flight to Bogota.
BEST WAY FROM EL DORADO AIRPORT TO CITY CENTER
The best way from Bogota airport to Candelaria in city center for $10-15 USD is by Cabify App could be around $10 USD, taxi could be $15-20 USD or only $12 USD especially if you are traveling with more people and you are bringing too much luggage.
If you are going on a budget you can get the Transmilenio getting Free Shuttle Bus going to Portal Station. You will take 1 hour and 30 minutes but you will only pay $2 USD.

We decided to stay at IBIS Bogota Museo and we were so happy with the location just 20 minutes walking distance from La Candelaria. Around IBIS Museo there are a few bars, coffee shops restaurants to go out at night. If you are looking for accommodation on a budget with a nice and quiet location check it out!

The breakfast was so delicious with Colombian (especially delicious fruits) and Western options. The staff so helpful and friendly and internet working great! A perfect stay for the three of us avoiding the busy city center but at the same time walking distance!

STREET FOOD TOUR BOGOTA (LA MESA BOGOTA FOOD TOUR)

We joined a Bogota Food Tour experience with La Mesa Tours and we really loved it. We had a great cultural and food tour around La Candelaria.

The street food tour had several stops from 5-7 depending on how much time you want to stay and how hungry and thirsty you are. We tried the delicious hot chocolate with cheese, empanadas and arepas as the most popular street food in Colombia.
We tried delicious fruits, juices, chicha (an alcoholic drink). And to finish the tour we had delicious Colombian Tamales and Obleas as a dessert with Colombian coffee!

A total of $5-6 USD dollar can be your daily street food budget travel in Colombia. Local food in a local restaurant will start from $3-5 USD. And you can get snacks like street foods for $1 USD.

La Candelaria is a great area to stay in Bogota if you are looking for bars, restaurants and full of life. La Candelaria is so colorful and you will find street art, beautiful coffee shops and different types of cuisine.
