How to get to Lake Bohinj By Car

Lake Bohinj Slovenia is located in Triglav National Park. If you want to get to Lake Bohinj by car from Lake Bled is only 30 minutes driving. If you are coming from Ljubljana it will take 1 hour 45 minutes driving distance.

The best way of visiting this part of Slovenia Lake Bled, Lake Bohinj and Triglav National Park is by car or campervan. The places are so beautiful for spending a few days with beautiful hikes, lakes and you will have amazing there!

How to get to Lake Bohinj By Bus

There are buses running from Lake Bled to Lake Bohinj. Also you can get by train and later you will have to walk to the lake or get the bus passing by the train station. The bus is running every hour and prices are quite expensive for short distance.

Lake Bohinj Entrance Fee

Lake Bohinj Slovenia has no entrance fee. Just parked your car or your van and you can go there. You can stay overnight in a camping near by, there are also hotels if you prefer more comfort.

Lake Bohinj Parking Fee

The Parking entrance at Lake Bohinj is €12 per day. If you stay just one hour can be around €2 depending the area that you are parking and the season there are different prices. There aren’t many parking lots so it can be crowded in summer. Outside summer you will have no problems for parking near the lake.

Things To do In Lake Bohinj

Walking Around

There are 4 kilometers long so you will have plenty places where to walk around and taking pictures. The part with the bridge and the church has my favorite view.

Swimming Lake Bohinj

Swimming is allowed in Lake Bohinj but the water can be so cold even in summer. If you see a sunny day just go for it!

Kayaking at Lake Bohinj

You can kayak at Lake Bohinj. There are few places where you can rent a kayak for €10 per hour that would be enough to go around the lake since its not really big.

Hike Around the Lake Bohinj

There are a few hikes to do apart from the going around the lake. Savica Waterfall and Mostnica Gorge are the most popular ones. There are small entrance fees for the waterfalls in summer time €3.

Take the Cable Car to Vogel

If you take the cable cat to Vogel will cost €20. You can also hike to the top around 2 hours and around 40 minutes to go down.

Best Time To Visit Lake Bohinj

The best time for visiting Lake Bohinj is summer during the months of June-August in these months will be also the peak season and you’ll experience a high temperature. For sunrise and sunset will be amazing! And you will be able to swim and do all the activities the rest of the day.

And Spring season during the months of March-May is also great time. You can even see snow around the lake and enjoying the hikes around.
