First thing we have to say about Myanmar prepaid sim card, internet and data connection in Myanmar is really good in big cities you will have 4G and good wifi connection but not so good as Digital Nomads hubs like Thailand and Bali.

Only in a few remote places the connection can be intermittent like Bagan and Inle Lake but enough to catch up with work. If you are work online like us, the connection in Myanmar works good it has been improving a lot.

We could usually find a stable internet connection in Myanmar and the data was very cheap, one of the cheapest that we found traveling around the world.

CURRENCY EXCHANGE IN THE AIRPORT

If you are traveling to Myanmar and you get by plane. If you are bringing cash you can check the exchange rates on May 2019. We don’t usually recommend exchanging money in the airport since the rates are usually lower than in the city.

ATMS IN THE YANGON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

There are ATMs in the airport and also around the city so you will not have to worry about this. The commission from the ATM is high in Myanmar so if you are bringing cash you will save a few USD. It’s usually around $5 USD commission per withdrawal. Plus if you get any charge commission from your bank.

When you are visiting Myanmar, you should know about the weather. The weather is really hot in Myanmar. There are two seasons in Myanmar for the weather, dry and wet seasons. The dry season is from October to May, being November and December the coldest months in Myanmar.

And the wet season is from May to early October, being May and June as the hottest months in Myanmar. It means the best time to visit Yangon is from October to February when the weather is nicer and not rainy.

You can find cafes serving less than $1 USD and you can also eat local food like Noodles and rice and vegetables with curry for $1-2. You can also enjoy some juices and local tea for less than $1. Everything’s really affordable if you are traveling on a budget, you won’t have any problem at all. There are also beer stations where you can grab a beer for only $1-2 USD.

Transportation to move around Myanmar is quite cheap and buses cost 200 Kyats which is 20 cents of USD. Taxis you have to negotiate or you can also use Grab as we mentioned before in Yangon for affordable prices.
