Hiking Pongas waterfalls in Sagada was an amazing experience. It’s not one of the most popular Sagada tourist spots in Mountain province. It will take 20 minutes to get there by van to Ankileng village. The hike to Pongas waterfalls is easy and last 45 minutes to one hour to reach the waterfalls.

It requires a guide and you have to register and pay an entrance fee at Ankileng village 10 PHP. The views on the way to Pongas waterfalls with the rice terraces is so beautiful. BEST TIME TO VISIT SAGADA

Avoid going to Sagada from June to October because that is the rainy season in the Philippines. Although random rains could fall from any month. The best time to visit Sagada is from December to February for the cold unrivaled breeze with seas of cloud atop. You’ll surely love the views!

How To Get to Pongas Waterfalls

If you want to hike Pongas waterfalls you have to get a shuttle. It will take 15 minutes and it costs 650 PHP two ways and good enough for 10 people. It takes 20 minutes by van to reach Ankileng Village where you will be start the trekking to Pongas waterfalls.

Entrance Fee in Pongas Waterfalls

Once you get dropped in Ankileng Village. is the starting point of the hike to Pongas Waterfalls. you have to show your Official Registration from the Tourism Office 50 PHP that you have to pay in Sagada town. Before entering Ankileng Village you have to hire a guide 600 PHP until 8 people.

Hiking to Pongas waterfalls takes around 45 minutes to one hour to reach Pongas waterfalls. You have to hire a guide for the activity. Price is 600 PHP until 8 people. There is also a 10 PHP entrance fee in the village before going to Pongas waterfalls. If you need to buy snacks or water there is a small shop selling a few things.

Hiking to Pongas Waterfalls

The start of the hike to Pongas waterfalls is a hanging bridge. The way is so beautiful and you will pass by Ankileng village. Where you have to pay an entrance fee 10 PHP.

You will keep walking with nice views of the rice terraces. At the end of the hike you will see Pongas waterfalls. If you are coming in wet season from June to September maybe you will be able to see 3-4 waterfalls instead two of them.

On the way back you have to went back for the same way that you came. The total time for the activity in Pongas waterfalls can be 3 hours spending time around the waterfalls and if you take time with the hike. Otherwise if you are in a hurry you can finish in two hours.

The hike to Pongas waterfalls requires proper shoes. Since a few parts can be slippery especially close to the waterfalls. Make sure you bring water if not you can buy in the entrance of the village which is 10 minutes walking distance from the transportation will drop you.

Keep it clean in the same way that you find it. We didn’t see anyone hiking to Pongas waterfalls. And the way was clean and beautiful with the views if the rice terraces.

Is Suitable for kids hiking Pongas Waterfalls?

Yeah! It doesn’t require a bug skill for hiking. It will take 45 minutes to one hour to reach there. We did the hike with our little one Han 7 years old and we didn’t have any problem. Just pay special attention in the slippery areas. But as you go with guides follow their advice and instructions.

The location might have been a little bit far to the town central, but the place is differently beautiful than others. The ambiance is so serene and peaceful. Sumaguing Cave is only 1.31km away from this place.

Probably the cheapest option here for groups is Alicia’s Homestay. It’s far from other options but it gives the most return. The whole house has 1 double bed & 1 single bed & 1 single bed & 1 single bed and 1 double bed & 1 single bed. There are also trekking experiences nearby.
