How to get to Cagayan de Oro by Plane

The easiest way to get to Cagayan de Oro is definitely by plane. You can purchase cheaper flights online if you decide to book usually 2-3 months before your planned date of visit. There are flights coming from Manila, Cebu and Clark in Angeles City go ahead and check out Cebu Pacific.

Also, the weather here can be a bit unpredictable. It could be boiling hot during the summer, or too rainy around December to January. So it’s better if you mentally prepare yourself ahead of time, unless those are the type of climates you’re used to, then, welcome!

How to get to Cagayan de Oro by boat

There are regular trips to and from Manila, Cebu, Tagbilaran, Bacolod, Iloilo. The schedule and the trips can be modified and cancelled because of weather conditions, especially during rainy season.

Daily flights from Manila, Cebu and Davao. Weekly flights from Bacolod and Iloilo with Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific.

By ferry a few times per week Manila, Cebu, Tagbilaran and Bohol and weekly ferries Bacolod and Iloilo.

How to get to Cagayan de Oro from the airport

From Laguindingan International Airport (LIA) in the Laguindingan town and you several options to get to Cagayan de Oro City. You can go to SM Mall are or you can go to Agora Market Terminal.

How to get to Cagayan de Oro from the airport by van

At Laguindangan International Airport take an express van to Agora Market terminal in Cagayan de Oro. You can see them in the Arrival area. They are fast around 30-45 minutes and the price is 200 PHP.

How to get to Cagayan de Oro from the airport by bus

From Laguindangan Airport you can take a Super 5 Airport Van and Bus for 100 PHP to Cagayan de Oro. The shuttle will drop you off at the bus station where you transfer to the bus. And the bus will drop you in the terminal where you can get a jeepney to Agora Market or B3 if you are heading to the SM Mall area as we did in Cagayan de Oro. The price for the jeepney is 13 PHP. This is the cheapest way to get to Cagayan de Oro from the airport. 

How to get to Cagayan de Oro from the airport by taxi

From the airport to Cagayan de Oro by taxi will be the most comfortable way and expect to pay 400-500 PHP in a taxi with a taximeter to reach the city and it will take you around 30 minutes.

How to get to Cagayan de Oro from Davao

From Davao, you can ride a bus going to Cagayan de Oro. There are trips everyday, 24 hours a day with 30 minutes intervals. Air conditioned bus can cost 535 PHP and non air conditioned bus fare is 400 PHP. It can take 8 to 9 hours with a few stops on the way. For faster way to reach Cagayan de Oro if you’re from Davao, you may opt to book a flight. There’s at least 9 scheduled Davao to Cagayan de Oro flights via Cebu Pacific Air. Ticket fare varies per season and it’ll only take an hour.

How to get to Cagayan de Oro from Iligan

From Iligan, you can ride either a bus or a van to Cagayan de Oro. Travel time is 2 hours and 20 minutes or so. Bus fare costs 135 PHP per person.

How to get to Cagayan de Oro from Camiguin Island

From Benoni port in Camiguin Island, ride a ferry going to Balingoan port. Fare is 205 PHP and it takes 90 minutes. From Balingoan Port, walk to Balingoan bus terminal where you can see bus going to Cagayan de Oro. The travel time will take 2 and a half hour to 3 hours. Bus fare cost 150 PHP per person. If you go by van the fare is 120 PHP and it will be around 2 hours.

How to get to Cagayan de Oro from Surigao City

If you’re coming from Surigao City, you have to take a bus going to Butuan City. Bus fare costs 210 PHP and the ride will take less than 3 hours. After alighting at Butuan City, ride a bus going to Cagayan de Oro. You will be 3 hours on the road and the bus fare is 200 PHP for one person.
