How to Make Souvlaki
Souvlaki Recipe Ingredients
For the Souvlaki:
1 lb pork tenderloin or chicken breast, cut into 1-inch cubes
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried thyme
Salt and pepper to taste
Wooden or metal skewers

Pita bread
Tzatziki sauce (recipe below)
Sliced tomatoes

1 cup Greek yogurt
1 cucumber, grated and excess water squeezed out
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped (optional)

Step By Step How to Make Souvlaki
Marinate the Meat
In a bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper. Add the pork or chicken cubes and toss to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.
Prepare the Tzatziki Sauce
In a bowl, mix the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, dill (if using), salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
