MADRID AIRPORT TO SALAMANCA BY BUS (CHEAPEST WAY FROM MADRID TO SALAMANCA)
If you want to the cheapest way from Madrid Barajas airport to Salamanca by bus. You will have to get the metro from the airport until Mendez Alvaro Metro Station where you can get the bus going to Salamanca Bus Terminal.
METRO FROM MADRID AIRPORT TO MENDEZ ALVARO
There are two ways to go by metro from Madrid airport to Mendez Alvaro Metro Station. One of them is from the airport’s Terminal 1, 2 and 3, and the other option is from Terminal 4. You will have to go until Nuevos Ministerios Line 8 and transfer Metro Line 6 until Mendez Alvaro Metro Station. The total travel time can be 1 hour and 15 minutes.
If you want to use Madrid’s metro, the first thing you have to do is buy a metro card to move around Madrid. The card costs €3 and you can buy them from metro machines with cash or credit card.
Once you buy your card, you then have to add credits to the card to go around the city center or other destinations in Madrid that you are planning to visit. Aside from the initial €3 for the metro card, €3 will be added for your fare from Madrid airport to Moncloa in Madrid city center along with the extra €2 to go around Madrid.
If you want to get to Madrid from the airport using the metro, it will cost you €8. But you will be able to use the metro card while visiting Madrid adding more credits. The metro starts at 6 am until 1 30 am.
You can check the stations and schedules in Metro de Madrid’s website. Remember total price is €8 for one way ticket. It will be worth it as I mentioned if you will use the Madrid Metro card in the city next days. Anyway you should purchase €3 metro card and top up.
Maybe you can find your Metro Card for free in information if they are promoting Metro campaigns (but don’t trust on this).
If you want to get from Madrid airport to Salamanca by bus. You can take a bus from Madrid’s Estacion Sur Bus Station. You can buy the bus ticket in Estacion Sur Bus station in the ticket machines with cash or credit card.
You can also book online one-way ticket will cost you €14-25. The bus ride will last 2 hours and 30 minutes up to 3 hours and 30 minutes each way. Buses start leaving at 7 30 am and the last bus is around 8 30 pm.
The total bus fare is around €14 for one way ticket and the total travel time can be around 3 hours and 30 minutes of metro from Mendez Alvaro Metro Station plus bus to Salamanca.
You will reach Salamanca’s bus station at Filiberto Villalobos Street which is near the city center. You can go walking be 15 minutes from the bus station to the old town in Salamanca. You can also get a taxi or Bus Number 4 going from the Bus Station in Salamanca to city center.
DIRECT BUS AVANZA MADRID AIRPORT TO SALAMANCA
You can also book online with Avanza a direct bus from Madrid airport to Salamanca. The buses are leaving a few times per day from Terminal 1 and Terminal 4 at Madrid Barajas airport.
The bus fare is around €27-30 for a one-way ticket and the travel time is around 3 hours and 30 minutes.
TAXI ADOLFO SUAREZ MADRID BARAJAS AIRPORT TO SALAMANCA
As you guys know, riding a taxi is for sure the most comfortable way to get from Madrid airport to Salamanca. The price is around €250-280 by taxi and it will take around 2 hours and 20 minutes from Barajas airport to Salamanca.
Here’s a fun fact: I was actually a taxi driver in Madrid (see the picture above) before I started traveling the world and meeting Rachel. This was my job until we started our travel blog in November 2015. Would you believe that? Cool, right?
TRAIN MADRID AIRPORT TO SALAMANCA (BEST WAY)
If you want to go from Madrid airport to Salamanca by train. You will have to go first to Chamartín Train Station. Going by Renfe Cercanías of Madrid is a great choice especially if you are arriving in Terminal 4 of the airport. The journey from the airport to Chamartín can last 30 minutes on Train Cercanías.
The ticket costs €2.60 (last time I did was July 2020 and still same price) to and from the city center and €0.50 cents for the card that you can use in the future if you stay in Madrid.
If you are coming from AVE (High-Speed Train) the train ticket will be free since it’s included in the High-Speed Train. The train runs every 15-20 minutes, with the first train departing at around 6 AM and the last train leaving at 11 PM.
If you want to get from Madrid airport to Salamanca by train. The train leaves from Chamartín train station and one-way costs around €25 (it can get cheaper or more expensive). The travel time from Chamartin Train Station to Salamanca is 1 hour and 40 minutes.

And by bus and metro the cheapest way from Madrid airport to Salamanca is around €20 with Avanza and the travel time is 4 hours and 30 minutes from Madrid Barajas airport to Salamanca city center passing by Estacion Sur Bus Terminal in Madrid.
If you go by train around €28 and it will take 2 hours and 40 minutes total travel time.
WHERE TO STAY IN SALAMANCA
Salamanca is a very nice place to stay in Spain. Accommodation will be cheaper in Salamanca than bigger cities in Spain and you will be able to enjoy the city with more time.
