Prices of the island hopping as we mentioned before around 4000-6000 PHP and can fit until 20 people. Expect to pay higher if there are 20 people in the boat than 2-3 people. Since it was low season we just went ourselves in the boat for 4000 PHP.
For us the experience was totally worth it! Not cheap for the Philippines prices. Since there were no other options for renting the boat and sleeping. Plus entrance fees for everything.
We have to say that Calaguas Island was so clean and really beautiful colors in the water with white sand. Plus the landscape was amazing with the views of the mountains always reminding us Batanes and the Rolling Hills.
BORACAY ISLAND VS CALAGUAS ISLAND
Calaguas Island is called the little Boracay. The color of the water is pretty similar with the white sand. But don’t expect the same in Calaguas Island since there is no electricity. For us the best in Calaguas Island visiting off season was staying almost alone.
Only two boats in the Calaguas Island at that time made us enjoy more the place. If you prefer party and crowded places Boracay Island will be better for you. And if you prefer to stay in contact with the nature hiking and camping Calaguas Island is your place.
For us both of us are amazing and it’s hard to choose. It depends on what you prefer at that time peaceful place like Calaguas Island. Or having options for bars and restaurants like in Boracay Island.
THINGS TO DO IN CALAGUAS ISLAND

Just in front of Calaguas Beach and Balagbag Island. You will see green mountains and it’s only 15 minutes boat ride from Calaguas Beach.
There are plenty of options for the island hopping in Calaguas island. Apart from the places that we mentioned above. You can ask your boatmen where to go.

5. SUNRISE IN CALAGUAS ISLAND
If you want to get the sunrise from Calaguas Island you have to hike. It takes 20 minutes and the sunrise is around 5 30- 5 45 am.
6. BEACH CLEANING
We always make sure that we collect at least one bag of trash in the beach. Especially when traveling around the Philippines with the little Han who is always requesting.
But we have to say that Calaguas Beach was pretty clean and since there were almost no people. One of the cleanest beach in the Philippines so far. One reason more to visit this paradise!
7. PLAYING GAMES AND BEACH SPORTS
Always that you stay in the beach is great to have a ball to play volleyball or other sports. Especially after sunset or in the morning if you are traveling a few of you. Making castles or whatever game with the white sand is fine especially if you are traveling with kids.
8. HIKING TINAGA ISLAND’S HILLS
There is an island where you can go to the top and watch the views. The landscape is similar to Batanes. It reminded us to Rolling Hills in Batanes. The hike is easy and it takes 20-30 minutes from Calaguas Beach to reach to the top.
There are 20 PHP entrance fee at the beginning of the hike. And extra 20 PHP on the top of the Hill. The views are so rewarding and on the top is waiting for you phone signal and weak internet connection in case that you need. It’s the only place where we found phone signal in Calaguas Island during two days.
9. WATCHING THE STARS
If you sleep in a tent you will be lucky watching the stars. You don’t have always this great opportunity. We didn’t sleep in the tent this time. But we made sure that we gave a long walk at night around the beach before sleeping. The sky was great!
WHAT TO BRING TO CALAGUAS ISLAND
There are no food sellers in the island, only a couple of kiosks sending food and water.
There is no drinkable water and there is no electricity. You can get water in the barangay or in the kiosks in the island.
There is almost no phone signal in Calaguas Island, so the data is weak. You have to climb to get phone signal. There is no phone signal available from the beach.
There is no electricity in Calaguas Island so bring your power bank to make sure you can charge your phone and devices.
Bring a dry back for the island hopping and I would suggest plastic to cover your staff just in case is raining hard.
Bring your snorkeling mask since the boatmen will not have available. You can’t miss the opportunity of swimming around the clear waters.
Bring your sunblock.
Bring your own food if you are planning to spend the day or overnight. There are carinderias near the port in Paracale where you can buy food. Bring cash, don’t expect there are ATM’s or exchange offices in paradise ha!
Take pictures everywhere with your camera.
Take underwater shots with the done or underwater camera.
Of course if you have a drone fly it around Calaguas Island!
Very Important: Please make sure you bring a bag to collect your trash so you can keep clean Calaguas Island and as we always do. By the way our little Han never forgets about it and before swimming he makes sure that he collects a bag of trash.
Also if you have a spare plastic bag for the trash you can use for collecting the garbage around. And we will keep Calaguas amazing for the next time that we are visiting!
Since we were in low season we found Calaguas Island very clean and there was no need to collect trash!

There are a few resorts in Calaguas Beach. We decided to stay at Fantastic Beach Resort simple one for 1500 PHP the cottage. There is no electricity during the day but they turn on the generator at night. They provide an electric fan.
