After a few years living in the Philippines, we decided to visit the Hundred Islands National Park in Pangasinan. The group of 123 islands are quite popular for Filipinos especially in the weekend and summer. We will write about our experience how to get to Hundred Islandswhat to do in Hundred Islands, and of course, travel budget in Hundred Islands.

Although there are more than 100 islands in the Hundred Islands National Park, the main islands at are Governor Island, Marcos Island, Quezon Island and Children Island. And of course, you can’t miss Pilgrimage Island!

How to get to Hundred Islands National Park in Pangasinan

How to get to Hundred Islands by bus from Manila

If you are coming from Manila, you can ride a bus to Alaminos City. Victory Lines have routes from Manila to Alaminos. The fare is 400 PHP and travel time is around 5-6 hours depending on the traffic. There are buses running from Cubao anytime of the day.

Once you are in Alaminos, you have to ride a tricycle to reach to the tourism information center in Hundred Islands, which is around 5-6 kilometers away from where you will be dropped off. The fare of the tricycle is 100 PHP and you can share this if you are riding with other people. If you go early morning like we did, we suggest to stop half of the way to grab some food in a carinderia or any place available.

How to get to Hundred Islands by bus from Clark

We chose this option since we are based in Angeles City in Pampanga and we traveled by bus to Hundred Islands National Park. We took a night bus from Dau and the travel time was around 3-4 hours with a stopover in Tarlac. The fare of the bus is 275 PHP per person.

Once you are in Alaminos City, again you have to ride a tricycle to reach to the tourism information center which is around 5-6 kilometers away from where you will be dropped off. The fare of the tricycle is 100 PHP, shareable with other passengers if you are riding with them.

ATM’S IN HUNDRED ISLANDS

There are a number of ATM Machines in Alaminos City, but most are in the town area. There are different banks as well. There are also hotels that have ATM machines near the vicinity but it is still advisable to always bring cash for emergencies. There are also exchange offices if you are bringing cash.

INTERNET AND WIFI CONNECTION IN HUNDRED ISLANDS National PARK

The internet in Hundred Islands National Park is slow, but you can get a phone connection and weak signal almost all the time of your island hopping experience in Hundred Islands National Park. In the main island, Governor’s Island, had pretty decent data connection with Globe and Smart.

BEST TIME TO VISIT HUNDRED ISLANDS

Hundred Islands enjoys two kinds of seasons, the dry season from November to April and the wet season from May to October. It is recommended that travelers visit during dry season, especially from December to February when temperatures are much cooler and touring will most likely not be interrupted by rains and will not be really hot going around.

These are the prices per person for a day tour, 200 PHP in total:

Above is our official receipt of 4 adults and a 6-year old child for a day trip. They included 200 PHP trash deposit and they will give it back to you when you give them all the trash in your plastic bag. We loved it since we always make sure we get full our bags to clean the area of plastics. We found Hundred Islands National Park very clean.

MAIN ISLANDS TO VISIT HUNDRED ISLANDS National PARK

Governor’s Island

One of the main islands where you can climb the stairs and have an amazing view of the islands from the top. You can swim and even do ziplining.

You can camp, rent a guesthouse and stay in the cottages during the day.

Quezon Island

One of the main islands where you can also try the zip line. You can also do snorkeling and we think that it’s the best area to do it in Hundred Islands National Park.

There is place to camp and cottages to stay in Quezon island.

Children’s Island

It’s the third main island and you can also rent cottages, camp at night same like in Governor and Quezon islands.

Marcos Island

It was our favorite! When we got here, it was super quiet. An island great for swimming and snorkeling. You can also do cliff jumping if you are a brave soul, ha!

Pilgrimage Island

We spent almost an hour in Pilgrimage Island going up and down to see the image of Christ. The views on the way and on the top were amazing! They sell water on the way and everything is well indicated to do the pilgrimage. Many locals joining to the pilgrimage and it was really interesting the 12 stations of the cross and it’s finishing with the Christ Redimer.

Monkey and Bat Island

As the name suggests, yes you can see monkeys, birds and bats when visiting these islands!

If these islands are not enough for you, you can also visit these islands during your day tour in Hundred islands: Cuenco Island, Romulo Island, Turtle Island.

WHAT TO DO IN HUNDRED ISLANDS National PARK

Swimming in Hundred Islands National Park

You can swim in most of the islands during the tour. We did swim in Marcos Island where you can also do the cliff jumping. It depends on how you organize your day. For us, it was easy because we were in a small group.

Snorkeling

You can rent snorkeling gear for 250 PHP for the whole day. You can also just bring yours like what we do and it lets us to save money every time we island hop! The water was clear in Hundred Islands and we were able to see colorful fishes! It’s really worth-trying!

Helmet Diving

The new activity is available for 400 PHP and it lasts 20 minutes. The main place for Helmet diving is close to Marcos Island where we spent a few hours.

Cliff Jumping

We enjoyed Cliff jumping in Marcos Island and it was free of charge. You have to bring a life jacket (50 PHP for renting). Even our little one who is 6 years old did the cliff jumping, it was our favorite what to do in Hundred Islands. It’s actually not so difficult, haha!

Kayaking

You can do your own island hopping if you rent a kayak. The rental is 250 PHP per hour or 750 PHP for the whole day. Make sure you bring a waterproof bag to protect your gadgets, sunblock and water.

Zip Line

As we mentioned above, the prices are 250 PHP in Governor’s and Lopez Islands. It’s 120 PHP in Quezon Island.

Banana Boat

You can join your friends and family and ride the Banana boat for a fun adventure in Hundred Islands. Prices are 250 PHP for minimum 6 people.

What to do in Hundred Islands

Apart from the main activities mentioned above, you can also ride a Jet Ski. Prices are around 1000 PHP for 15 minutes. If you like, wall climbing and rappelling are available for 50 PHP per person each activity.

If you like adventure, parasailing costs 2000 PHP for 15 minutes and 3000 PHP if you do as a couple.

What to bring in Hundred Islands and What to keep in mind

Bring power bank for your gadgets.

Bring your sunblock.

Bring waterproof bag for your gadgets.

Bring snorkeling gear and it will make you save 250 PHP.

Keep clean the area as we mentioned before. Collect your trash and include all the plastics that you can see around.

If you are spending the day with your boatman, share the food and drinks with your boatman!

Bring your own food and water. If you are planning to spend the day or day tour in Hundred Islands, there are places where you can buy water and drinks. Also street sellers sell ice cream.

Bring cash. Don’t expect there are ATM’s or exchange offices in a beach paradise, ha!

Relax and enjoy sunbathing, swimming, paddling, kayaking or you can even try the banana boat.

Take pictures everywhere with your camera. Save the memories.

Take underwater shots with the done or underwater camera.

Of course try droning. If you have a drone, fly it around Hundred Islands so you can see its beauty from above!

Where to Stay in Hundred Islands National Park

There are places to stay in Hundred Islands, especially at at Governors Island, Children Island and Quezon Island.

You can also bring your own tent or even rent one in Hundred Islands for 500 PHP. The fee for camping is 200 PHP per tent.
